One notable thing about Age of Apocalypse is that it really holds off on killing anyone until the last phase of the story. It gives us time to get to know these versions of the characters so when the dying does start it has more impact. When the Generation Next kids all get slaughtered it fucking hurts.
This is what Age of Revelation, which can't seem to go a single issue without a shock death, just doesn't understand.
