We came home to a terrible scene, my father was dragging out a dead body from the house. The man he was dragging looked familiar, but I had known I hadn’t seen him in a long time.

I ran inside right away, then I remembered everything. Everything that had happened. The man that my father killed was no ordinary man, it was my stepfather. Of course my father had no idea he existed so I thought. I snuck around inside.

Jennifer Chronicles: Chapter 1 -- Part 1/3

My cousin, Gavin, had been married to a very beautiful girl at a very young age. They had a baby girl, and she had left the two for a life in the city. That’s when I became a mother to my cousin’s little girl. Her name is Emily, and I love her so very much. Gavin, on the other hand, hates children.

Why did he ever agree to have kids with his wife? I don’t know. It’s been a blessing to my husband, Luigi, and I. There was never a moment where I was ungrateful for the family I was born into.

It started out as a day when I took little Emily to the park that morning. We enjoyed the morning like no other. She was so happy. The night before her father (Gavin) had tanked up and been a little mouthy about her biological mother. Emily never knew that I wasn’t her biological mother. She knows that Gavin and I are cousins, so it isn’t like she thought she was you know, made the old fashioned way. I always worried that Emily would find out the hard way when she goes to school. She never considered Luigi her father, for whatever reason. Which was fine with me, I never minded.
