Grass as seen in the Savannah is evident on the top of a quarry's cliff in Gituri near Murang'a Town, Murang'a County, Kenya. The mining method in this area, Open Cast Mining, involving the removal of the soil cover on high points of the red ranges is a multi-decade activity. The resulting colour of the affected areas is whitish-grey, the colour of stained limestone hardcore deposits.
