Rise Up As One for strong and resilient Indigenous communities!
Native American Heritage Month.
This November, we're proud to honor Indigenous people & leaders who have been instrumental in advocating for social justice & cultural continuance.
Many Indigenous communities come from a matriarchal tradition where women and 2-spirit people have long held positions of power and prominence in their tribal communities.

YOU ARE ON NATIVE LAND // Indigenous communities gathered this morning to demand an end to official Columbus Day designations. The Los Angeles City Council just voted to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day! 👏🏽 Props to LA for knowing when to drop an outdated racist colonial legacy that represents institutional oppression, genocide and exploitation. History has been made today. When we Rise Up AsOne we win ✊🏾 Decolonize! // 📷: @grandpark
This poem, written by activist/poet Luis Valdez, borrows a phrase from a Mayan greeting that recognizes our interdependent connections to other humans.
NO HISTORY, NO POEM, NO CULTURE, IS ILLEGAL. ✊🏽
