Things you can’t see;
@geniushyuga continued from here:
Wondering just what could require the efforts of both him and Ino, and unlikely pairing in his own mind despite him recognizing her skills, his main focus was on the mission details being told to them. It seems rather simple enough once she finished Neji simply nodded and immediately stood up walking out of the office waiting for this partner. As soon as she closed the Hokage’s door as she exited the genius’s eyes narrowed directly at her.
“If you’re going to do something so crude in front of the Hokage ensure the receiver doesn’t notice your movements miss Yamanaka, which could double as anyone else around us noticing as well.”
Was it weird? Yes. Did he really mind? Not entirely as his team was far weirder, barring Tenten, so things like this were minor annoyances than a rather bother.
“I’ll assume you were at the very least paying attention in your bout of sniffles yes?”
Benefit of the doubt. One time only.
Ino didn’t need to ever wonder why the hokage summoned her. As a young girl, she had the ego of a small continent and knew that her superb skillset was needed in many missions with a variety of ninja. Whether it was as a sensor, a healer, or simply because she was a friendly and amicable ninja, Ino knew she would perform them beautifully.
Except that she had never worked with Neji, before. Mainly because he was usually with his wacky team mates or serenely working alongside fellow Hyuuga family members.
Ino almost flinched when he let her know that he had cottoned on to the fact that she was trying to smell him.
SHIT! Ino mentally swore and tried to quickly smooth her expression into one of cool detachment. She put a don’t-care sort of hand on her hip and examined her nails. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Yes. It seemed like a good idea at the moment to lie to someone with 360-degree vision.
!!
“I wasn’t sniffing you! What do you think I am, an Inuzuka?! You just have an overpowering scent. Anyway, of course I was paying attention, Hyuuga-San!” Had they come to second name terms again? Oh well.
Ino smoothed her skirt primly and glanced over at him. “So we’re just tracking down a simple criminal who went missing from prison… I’m sure with your eyes and my sensory techniques, we’ll be fine. We even have coordinates of the town he was last spotted in.”
