December 2014 Update
I've been debating which of my many characters should be the next to reach L100 in the new expansion. It's been a bit of a struggle, because ten levels is nothing to scoff at, and my extremely limited playtime means I need to choose carefully. I'm also feeling a bit wary because my Forsaken Shadow Priest ended up feeling fragile and weak at 100, regardless of gear. My original plan was to level my Tauren Druid next, because having that flexibility at 100 would be extremely useful. I can perform any role in the game, and with the new primary-stat shifting on gear, I could do so with relatively little impact on my bagspace. However, what I've found is that for soloing and fun, nothing matches my Troll Hunter. DPS is high with moderate gear, soloing is a breeze thanks to tanking pets, and Barrage provides massive AOE DPS on a relatively short cooldown. Plus his profession is Engineering, and after most of the fun was sucked out of professions with the new expansion, Engineering still retains more fun-factor than the rest. So it looks like my next L100 character will end up being my Hunter. Sure, there's absolutely no role flexibility in choosing a pure DPS class, but the class is fun and easy to play solo, and right now... that's what I need from WOW.
