i just love the connection between the sumeru archon quest and the Tower of Babel story
*GENSHIN IMPACT SPOILERS*
In the original legend, humans were trying to build a really high tower to reach God and had to stop doing so because of the misunderstanding born from the different languages God gave them; similar to that, during the Archon Quest we get to know that the academia was trying to trasform Scaramouche into a new artificial god aiming to gain divine knowledge and how did Nahida won over them? She turned of the Akasha (used as both archive and comunication device).
Other than that, if i'm not mistaken, part of the region is inspired by Mesopotamia which is indeed where Babel was located.
