Secret
Secret
Spring.
When the ice breaks and the river begins to flow again—
once more, a traveler returns to Moominvalley.
“Snufkin!”
“Hey there, Moomin.”
The traveler crosses the bridge and comes home,
back to his precious house, back to his dearest friend.
“Welcome home, Snufkin.”
“You’ve grown again since I last saw you, haven’t you?”
“So, what did you see this time? If it’s not something exciting, I’ll postpone your next trip!”
At that, the traveler blushes a little and replies to each of them, one by one.
Ah… this season has come again.
Let’s go to the cave again—
to that cave I found.
It really is peaceful here. A little cramped, maybe,
but for me alone, it’s more than enough.
I can even take a nap—though the rocky floor’s a bit painful.
Still, Snufkin’s welcome gets grander every year.
Even Moominmamma went out to celebrate this time,
while her “son” spends the day killing time in a dark cave like this.
…Well, I guess this suits me just fine.
I murmur softly and curl up.
In the back of the cave, the chill spreads quietly,
and the echoes of celebration never reach this far.
Only the sound of dripping water keeps me company,
like a whisper easing the loneliness in my chest.
“Oh, I must’ve fallen asleep.”
Night has already deepened.
My stomach won’t stop growling,
and every part of my body aches.
By now, everyone’s probably asleep.
—Seems like no one came looking for me.
It’s always like that, but
I never get used to the way my heart sinks when I realize it.
A long, weary sigh slips out before I can stop it.
“Hey, someone there?”
“Oh, it’s you. Everyone’s been looking for you, you know. Hiding out here, really?”
“Little My? What are you doing here?”
“Just out for a night stroll. Don’t tell Mamma, alright?”
“Okay.”
“Anyway, get out of this tiny cave already.
I’d die of boredom if I had to sit here all night.”
“…It’s surprisingly cozy, actually.”
“You saying that? Then it must be snowing tomorrow.”
“You’re making fun of me again…”
“What was that? C’mon, let’s go.”
My gives a small stretch and grabs my hand.
She’s surprisingly strong for someone her size,
I think absently as we walk back
to the dark, unlit house.
gentlemelancholy replied to your post: Is it sad that I keep on watching Lilo and Stitch since yesterday?
Are there still replays of it or are you watching either by DVD or online. I liked the TV series to it but the movie was the best of all. If you’re watching it online, can you send me a link please?
Sorry, but I'm watching it from a dvd sweets :(
