Compared to his moody, lazy teenage self, Shikamaru as an adult really shows his emotions a lot more. He’s relaxed, he’s happy. The man’s gone through some hard shit, and a war, he’s lost people he loved, but being with his friends, seeing Naruto rise up and find his place, marrying Temari and loving Shikadai have all given him hope and a reason to live that he didn’t have before.

He absolutely laughs a lot more too.

Shikamaru’s anger is like the rising tide. It’s a slow build up, and when the tide crashes against the shore, it’s strong, merciless, and unbending. He can have a slow burn type of rage that will slowly fade away, or it can be as quick and decisive as lightning. Either way, he’s not to be messed with once you’ve crossed the line.
