I FEEL YOU. Every week has been a nightmare for me. I don't know why I'm such a masochist. It was bad before, sure, there's always been an unfair and displeasing treatment of women during the Moffat run. But. It's making me really uncomfortable this year. Beginning with the way the Doctor treats Clara and how, even when she speaks up, she ends up accepting it and going back for more. She is victim of abuse and it creeps me out. 

Last episode was basically poorly written, scientifically whacky, conveniently plotted anti-choice propaganda. And THIS time there was a scene where while the two women were stuck in a dark, small room discussing feelings and men, the Doctor was in a lab with two men and a bunch scientists solving the mystery. (not to mention: a cart full of, say, 10-15 scientists and there are only three women and one PoC. Apparently in 200 years or so the scientific community still consists of old white dudes? Way to write science fiction, Who writers! Such hope for the future!)

this is so fucked up, truly. It's been a huge disappointment.

re your last post: what's the point of shipping if your heart isn't broken 90% of the time?

ikr? Sometimes we just need to be hurt by our ships. And watch most of their scenes (or read most of their scenes, my physical reaction is literally the same) covering our eyes in horror and awe, pausing to school our feelings, and then suffer it all through with our hearts barely making it until OH! love declaration, much embarrassed squeeing on my part, and then it all silently dies down into a blissful existence of sorts. But by then my spirits are calm, and I’m happy but not as engaged as before. Which is infuriating, if you think about it, because then headwriters and producers go on and destroy that ship that you emotionally worked so hard to eventually see happy and mildly boring. Horrible business. 

Example: yes, I was more on edge when Ben and Leslie (from Parks&Rec) where working things out rather than now that they’re married, but I will still kill myself if they ever break up at this point.

I thought that Brienne was killed and then brought back by Lady Stoneheart, or am I wrong? I just presumed she meant she was on that side (against Jaime?) then. I think I read that one too quickly!

Brienne’s final AFFC chapter ends with her being briefly hanged and then yelling “a word” (GRRM has verified that that word was “sword”, representing her choosing to kill Jaime). In ADWD, Jaime’s final chapter has Brienne finding him, claiming that Sansa has been captured by the Hound, and that Jaime must come alone.

Now, we could assume that Brienne has gone from defending Jaime to being against him once again, but the man jumped in a bear pit for her and I just can’t see her deciding that she has to kill him at this point. As a Jaime x Brienne shipper, it would hurt me emotionally to believe that she has decided to kill him, so I’m hoping she has some kind of plan to get herself, Pod, Hyle (actually I don’t care so much about Hyle tbh), and Jaime out of Stoneheart’s clutches alive.

Was looking forward to your weighing in and I think you’re dead on. The only thing left to do is to see how it unfolds… but I don’t think I want to wait and see.

to be fair? In this moment I'm generally disinclined to watch the rest of the series. I will, because of Mary. But almost against my preservation instincts (and I agree with flailinggirl: that warning was not enough.).

Maybe it's because it's still very fresh, but...I feel like I just want to forget about it, distance myself from the characters so that it doesn't affect me.

This is not a storyline that you just throw around. It's not something you put in any show, not something you resolve with tv timing, and I don't know but I don't feel comfortable with it. It's a personal reaction.
