We played The Expanse Board Game again earlier this week. This is an excellent science fiction area majority game by #GeoffEngelstein. ⁣ ⁣ Spend victory points to buy cards, spend more points too Dave the card for later or use the card for the powerful event or for actions in the game. But using the card for actions allows one of your opponents to use the card for the event ability for free.⁣ ⁣ Place cubes on planets to control planets and bases and use fleet ships to support them from orbit. ⁣ ⁣ Pick the score card when you have majority in a section of the map and you get to secretly choose that section to score those points. We played The Expanse with the new Doors and Corners expansion and it makes a really great game even better! The tension is very high in this game that loosely recreates the political intrigue from the books and TV show. The new expansion adds a new (much improved) board and 5 new modules that you can mix and match to add to the game or include them all for an epic struggle for control. Each module in this expansion makes just tiny additions to the game but have a huge impact on the decisions, choices and game play. The base game was A and this expansion turns it to an A++ for me! 4-player game of The Expanse is soooooo good! Every decision is impossibly tough and interesting strategic options. Tons of take-that style card play with mulit-use cards. The games does a great job of creating the political intrigue from the books and TV show, although I don't think prior knowledge of either is important to enjoying this game.
