Two Michael Kitchen fandom facts from the wonderful 'Enchanted April'.

The scar over the right eye was not real, but a make-up department nod to the fact that poor George suffered some injury that resulted in poor eyesight.

Michael Kitchen did play the Elgar 'Chanson de Matin' oboe solo himself, at least according to director Mike Newell in his commentary on the DVD. I add that caveat because Newell did seem to have forgotten a lot about the filming by the time the commentary was made.

George Briggs reminds me of a little blind mole, blinking in the daylight. I love how he doesn't even see them at first when he opens the door.

Who did he think they were? Jehovah's Witnesses? :^D

It's too bad MK got type-cast as a bad guy for so long (not that I'm complaining; everybody knows how much I dig Rrrroman) because the man can do comedy. He should've done more of it as a young man, imho.
