It’s George Pendle who actually writes the captions for carpets in airports
It’s Hugh’s friend, George Pendle, who actually writes the entries for Carpets for Airports.
This is the same friend who Hugh went on the bender with for our beloved NYT piece.
The same friend who wrote a novel “the life of Jack Parsons, a mysterious and brilliant man in 1940s Los Angeles, who by day helps birth the entirely unknown discipline of American rocketry, and by night is a performer of sex magick rituals and a disciple to occultist Aleister Crowley.” that is now being made into a TV show.
Hugh and fam take the pics, submit them to George, who writes the entries.
So no, Hugh (and Claire and Jonathan and Jack) do not write fanfic about airport carpets.
But Hugh is more than happy to contribute, and enlist his family, in enabling his friend to write fanfic about carpets.
Hugh Dancy wouldn’t judge you for writing fanfic.

Yesterday CBS announced a new show Strange Angel for its digital service. It's about Jack Parsons, a rocket scientist and founder of NASA's JPL, who was also an occultist and, according to the release, “by night is a performer of sex magick rituals”. Curiously, this reminded me of an NYT piece on Hugh and his friend George Pendle on a night out and mentions of orgies, performance anxiety, and the dark lord. Today I learned it's an adaptation of George's nonfiction book! Congrats to George!
