On this date in 1977 George Willig climbed WTC 2 using home-made equipment that utilized the window-washing tracks. During his three and a half hour ascent he was accompanied by two police officers, one a suicide expert, who realized he knew what he was doing and wasn't a jumper, so they helped him up the last bit, then arrested him.
The mayor fined him $1.10, one cent for every floor.
