I saw your post a few days ago giving some tips when it comes to Tarot, and while I'm very glad to have seen that because it was greatly helpful. You saying you could go on has intrigued me very much. I know you've already gone on a bit about it to me personally, but I'd be very interested in a second post about it, if you'd be willing.
Oh hello, hello, my sweet and beloved pet! My darling, loyal, and charming, innocent eunuch... It's so delightful to see you! I'm so happy that you're here!
I'm glad you asked! This is a topic that is exceptionally broad of course. Let us offer a gentle segue into this ask that I answered as this response will be a continuation of that particular ask!
Now, carrying on with some nuances and tips for Tarot and Divination as a whole:
Space matters. The place you choose to draw cards impacts you and the energies at play. Not just for your deck but for you. Mental clutter is a real facet of the human condition. There is nothing mystical about it. It's just a matter of how you feel in a space. Clean, organised, and presentable spaces often aid in mental focus and clarity. These energies carry over.
Deck personalities are absolutely a thing. I once got the exact same deck as another practitioner that I am good colleagues with. And his did not wish to cooperate with him. We shipped our respectively "identical" decks to to one another and voila! The one that I had gotten worked well with him and I experienced harmony with his!
Reversals are not "bad"! For some reason, many diviners get a "reverse" card and suddenly it's sweats and nerves! Sometimes cards that are in reverse are positive and a card that is upright is negative. Sometimes they're neither. It's all perspective. Many cards in reverse are simply a different perspective of the upright version.
Tarot is relational. It is not transactional. It is generally frowned upon to draw cards with the intent of "I ask a question and I get answers." There is a degree of communication, reciprocity and connection that is developed over time. Decks are not machines. They are living.
Decks can get overworked. Just as you can. Deck burnout is a thing. Swap decks from time to time. Give yours rest after heavy readings.
Check your assumptions. If a card surprises you or contradicts your expectations, that’s gold. Beginners often force “expected” interpretations, but the deck’s real answer may be something you aren’t ready to see. Lean into discomfort. Be open to seeing something you aren't ready for.
Tying into this last note, be aware that you may obtain information and sensitive material regarding other people. Often this is jarring. You may learn about a death in someone's life from a miscarriage to someone's mother. You may learn about someone's sexual abuse history, trauma, or other shadows that weigh upon them. Your draws of divination may reveal sensitive information about yourself or another person. Practise mindfulness with how you choose to tread on those paths. Dignity is critical when reading for another person but also for yourself.
Tarot doesn’t always speak in linear time. A card might reflect a past influence, a present dynamic, or a future potential. Beginners often mistake immediacy for certainty. Don’t. Part of pro practise is asking, "Is this a current energy, a pattern, or a potential outcome?"
I briefly mention this in the original post, but I wish to add it again but worded a tad differently: The story matters more than individual cards. While meanings are useful, the narrative across the spread is what communicates the depth. Look at patterns, mirrored symbols, repeated themes, and the tension between cards. Think less "card X = outcome" and more "cards X, Y, and Z are conversing with one another and are telling a story." Again, pay mind to the direction that characters face in the cards. Which direction is the Chariot riding towards? What direction is that Page facing? These are important as to how each card behaves.
Each Suit is a parallel of the Fool's Journey. All minor arcana follow that same path. The beginning of a process as it builds is numerically expressed through the Ace/"1" to the 10. From there, the Page, Knight, Queen, King. These are important "stages" for each suit of Minor Arcana.
Your emotions are part of the reading. When reading for yourself, pay attention to emotional responses. A surge of anxiety, sadness, or excitement is information. For others, note your visceral reaction and how it might be influencing interpretation and what you want to see. But be sure to differentiate your emotion from the message of the cards.
Silence is part of the reading. Don’t feel compelled to "fill" a reading with chatter or justification. Sit with the cards, observe, breathe. Let space exist between draw, interpretation, and reflection—sometimes insight comes in the pause.
Keep refining your questions! Beginners often ask vague "yes/no" or future-predictive questions. Experiment with process-based questions:
“What energy is influencing this situation?”
“What should I be aware of right now?”
“What action aligns with my values and circumstances?” Refining your questions sharpens clarity and depth.
These are going to be far more helpful for you.
The future is nebulous. Asking for a future prediction is not reliable. Note that I say "reliable" not "Inaccurate". "Future" predictions follow the current trajectory and path based on the balance of probability. Any second you may make a decision that tilts that probability and thus makes the reading null. You may neutralise a "prediction" entirely based around actions and outcomes. A "Future" prediction should balance less on foresight and more upon consequences of two choices. Hello Two Of Swords!
I hope these additional tidbits provide you with sustenance, my pet. I'm always so delighted to see you. Many kisses.
For the Deity Ask Game: 🧭,⚡, the Wing (it won't copy for me), 🐚, and ❤
Oh hello my darling pet! You know, I'm always so pleased to see you. 💛🩵
🐚 - Do you want to be worshipped? What would worshipping you look like? (Covered in the last ask)
I feel like I would be worshipped against my will. As I do not wish to be worshipped at all. It'd be an odd sort of polarisation of my being. Half of the worshippers would consider me a benevolent Being of harmony and holistic understanding. The other half would be worshippers who consider me a vengeful Being in need of placation. To which I really wouldn't need anything. I just "do" and operate as is within my nature.
🧭 - Do you have any past incarnations in other pantheons?
I feel as though, perhaps, I would have a lot of incarnations of having been an utter pest to other gods throughout history. A Mortal who simply has poked, prodded, and dodged the cosmos and the punishment for my hubris would be being given Divinity. This, to me, would be the worst curse to endure.
⚡ - Does your impact your other identities? Gender, other kintypes etc. (Popular questions!)
Actually, given what I know about Worship of Ishtar, yes. I wish to declare that it would. By default, all worshippers would adopt "It/Its" Gender identities with the aesthetics of their gender being associated with Celestial Essence.
🪽 - If you had a religion, what would it be called?
It would not be named at all. Instead, it would only be vaguely described and any effort to name the religion would result immediately in a loss of language. It would be unnamable. Incomprehensible.
❤️ - Open slot to share a fun fact about your divinity!
I would detest and loathe every second of it but I would be stupidly good at "helping" people.
Thank you so much! This was a lot of fun!!!
