The AllMusic review by Michael G. Nastos awarded the album 4½ stars and stated:”The whole CD from top to bottom has Coleman and his band inspired to the hilt and playing their best, and At Yoshi’s is a highly recommended effort that deserves a space on each and every jazz lover’s shelf.”
Stuart Nicholson at JazzWise gave the album 4 stars and wrote:
“On each song, the listener is taken on a journey through well thought-out, structured performances where you dare not miss a note played.
Add to that his mastery of the saxophone and you have a double LP set that is a benchmark of what the real art of jazz improvisation is all about; remember, “there isn’t a player who knows his instrument better, or imparts so much knowledge in every marathon solo.”
