Si además mencionamos que es una de las comedias de enredo (screwball comedy) por antonomasia, cualquier momento es el ideal para disfrutar su visionado. Katharine Hepburn interpreta a una heredera rica, Tracy Lord, con aires de superioridad, egoísta, mandona, frívola, pero irresistible para los hombres, que va a contraer matrimonio con George Kittredge, un hombre que acaba de ingresar por méritos propios en la alta sociedad, pero que nada tiene que ver con el exesposo de Tracy: C.K. Dexter Haven (Cary Grant), con quien no puso punto y final al matrimonio de manera pacífica. Dexter Haven se confabula con la revista sensacionalista Spy, que designa a Macaulay Connor y a su fotógrafa para que se infiltren (con la complicidad de Dexter Haven) en el evento que se va a celebrar, con la excusa de ser amigos invitados por el hermano de Tracy, que trabaja en el extranjero y no asistirá a la boda.
