Hopsewee Plantation (Georgetown SC) is an original lowcountry rice plantation on the North Santee River built between 1735 and 1740. Birthplace of Thomas Lynch Jr., Hopsewee is one of just 12 remaining birthplaces of Signers of the Declaration of Independence. The home has not been modified from its original design and is furnished with 18th and 19th century antiques. Two original slave cabins remain on the property.

Georgetown Lighthouse

Located on North Island near the entrance to Winyah Bay, the original tower is one of two built in the late 1790s. Destroyed by a hurricane in 1806, it was rebuilt in 1812 of white-washed brick. The current tower is 85 feet high with 124 steps leading to the tower. Georgetown Light is an active light southeast of Georgetown, South Carolina. The building is not open to the public. It is only accessible by boat. The light is maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard.
