Hey! I just wanted to know if during your GCSEs and A levels did you get straights A’s and A*’s? Or was this profession something you choose later on so you never had a strong focus on your GCSE grades? I’m sorry if the wording was a bit dodgy I didn’t know how to word my question 😅 also it’s completely fine and understandable if you do not want to share your grades from those years 😊 I’ve been on your blog for 2 mins and already feel so inspired I love it! thanks for all your effort! ❤️

At GCSE I got all A*/A except a B in mathsAt A Level I got A*AA (D in Chemistry AS oops)

I went to a school which was always very academic and I’ve always been very competitive so I always tried to do as well as I could. But yeah, since before GCSE I kinda knew I was interested in medicine which did make me try that bit harder because I knew I would have to make the grades. So I think having the long term goal to aim for helped me a lot.

I’m Hana, and this is one of my favorite blogs! I really admire your organization and studying skills, and my dream is to become a med student in college. So- my question is; how did you decide that medicine was what you wanted to do? My parents believe I should think over my decision, since it’s “too difficult” but I’d like your insight. Thank you so so much for saying all these sweet things, you’ve really made my day! 

So first off there is no doubts about it - medicine is difficult and hard and stressful and full on. But if it is your dream why let those things stop you? 

Whilst I was at school my biology teacher doubted me. She tried to push me in different directions that I knew I didn’t want to go in, and told me I would never make it into med school. Now I don’t know about you but I’m a stubborn ass bitch haha, so I wanted it even more just to prove her wrong. And so I did. 

Now your parents of course have your very best interests at heart and will support you no matter your choice. But if you don’t at least try then how will you ever know? Going into medicine has pushed me to my limits and beyond, but I would not change a single thing about my journey so far. 

For me, medicine is more about having passion for what you’re doing each day and that human touch. Rather than being the cleverest person in the room.

Hi. My name is Sam and I'm a 17 year old second year nursing student in America and I was just wondering how you stay motivated. I get so discouraged and it's a really hard degree here so just ugh. Just thought I'd ask

Hey Sam!

I know exactly how you feel - it is super hard to stay motivated when you’ve got tonnes of work piling up and you just seem constantly tired. But just never let it stop you from achieving your dream. 

Our degrees are so  challenging because one day we will be the only thing standing between a patient and death. We will be the only thing to comfort someone in their most desperate hours. I just try and remember that when things get tough. To have picked and started your degree in the first place you must have incredible drive and the undeniable passion to help other people - never let anything dampen that.

This year I have tried to be much more gentle with myself. Last year reallyyy impacted upon my mental health and that is not a position I want to be back in again! So if you think you need a break - take one. If you need an extra cup of coffee, a study snack, a new dress - go and do it girl. 

Try not to punish yourself for not feeling in the mood to study or not studying as long as you would have liked. Make times for things you love to do, whatever it may be. 

I also find To Do lists super helpful, I’ll write one the night before and then review it in the morning to see if it’s realistic. That way when you tick things off you truly feel like you’ve accomplished something. But at the same time if you don’t manage to finish something, it doesn’t really matter. Just put it at the top of you To Do list for tomorrow.

Hi there I’m so sorry if this is a question you have already answered! I was wondering what apps you consider must haves for taking notes with your ipad and Apple Pencil? Your notes are amazing and as a freshman im looking to stay organized and take detailed notes for college. Thx so much!!

Hey! I’ve tried a lot of different note taking apps on my IPad to try and find the best ones for me so hopefully this will be helpful! 💛

📱 My personal favourite has to be GoodNotes (which is what you see in my posts) it has so many useful features and the writing style is second to none. I love how you can create “notebooks” complete with customisable front covers something which Notability does not offer. I’ve found it much easier to organise my notes compared to other apps too. I use GoodNotes to write up my “neat” notes in study guides which I intend to print and bind so I’m able to revise from.

📱 The second main note taking appI use is OneNote. I use this to annotate lecture slides. The fact this is compatible with Mac has made syncing my lecture notes super easy! The writing style with Apple Pencil isn’t great but for rough notes I find it fine. It’s also so easy to organise tonnes of different notes: I must have hundreds of powerpoints stored on there now and its so easy to find and search for the one you want!

I love your blog! Do you have any favorite mobile/mac apps/extensions?

aw thank you anon, thats really kind of you to say!

For mac extensions:

💻  my all time favourite has to be Momentum (thats probably the one you’ve seen on my Mac screen), i’ve tried lots of similar extensions to this but none as cute or helpful! 

💻  the Pintrest web clipper is a life saver for me, i use it a little too often oops

💻  Honey is incredible if you’re a poor student like me - whenever you’re online shopping it finds discount codes which you can then use. i must have saved sooo much money using this!

For mac apps:

💻  Todoist is such a simple way to organise your to-do lists. i have it on all my apple devices and it syncs across them all which is super helpful.

💻  Anki has been my go-to whenever exams come round for making flashcards.

Hi! Just purchased the iPad Pro, but was wondering whether to go for the Notability or the Good notes app.. would love to know whether or not you can upload the lectures (PDF or PowerPoint) in good notes? - I usually prefer to just add my own notes to the professor's PDF/PP. Would be super grateful for any reply! 😊 Thanks.

Oooh good choice on the Ipad Pro - I absolutely love mine so I hope you’re enjoying yours as well! 

You can add powerpoints/pdf’s into both GoodNotes and Notability and its very easy to do so. The only real difference between the two apps in my opinion is how you can organise your notes - but thats down to personal preference really!

Hi! Can I ask you about Your schedule? Here in Brazil, I have classes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. mon-Friday except Tuesday, plus extracurricular activities. and I feel like I cant do anything else or have time to properly study. I would like to know if medschools around the world are the same, and if so, how you handle it. Thank you xx

Hey, ahh your schedule sounds crazy! 

I’m in every day 9-5 except Wednesday’s when I’m in until 12. So I kinda know how you’re feeling about not having time to study/do extra things. I try get up early (6.30) so I have time to plan my day and do any readings for that day. I’m obsessed with to-do lists and I find this helps so much with organising my time and cutting out procrastination. 

I also try leave one day a week free of any studying just to catch up on me time or spend time with friends. Although thats much easier said than done. 

I know how it feels to feel like you’re so far behind and are constantly playing catch up, I just try not to be too hard on myself. If you need a break, you take a break. If you need to do something other than study, you go do it girl.

yeah, we had assignments throughout both first and second years. If I’m honest though the only plagiarism checker I used was turnitin.
