The Boom! Power Rangers comics, from the start of MMPR up through the end of shattered grid, are the story of one man, one kid, really, who deals with crippling self worth and self hatred issues, and how the only way he can overcome that and succeed in life is to open himself up to those who reach out to him, and learn to trust and rely on his friends. And not only that, but the only version of him that fails to be one of the greatest heroes of all time, is the version that refuses to let anyone in, to the extent that he actively harms those who try to truly care about him, and this is so damaging that even when he created a perfect fantasy world in which he controls everything and can do whatever he wants- it still falls apart because that self doubt and self hatred is so pervasive. the only thing stopping him from being happy is his own refusal to trust in others. The tale of Lord Drakkon is an almost shakespearean tragedy but *our* Tommy, who is willing to let others in, is opposingly a tale of almost legendary success. and people wonder why I'm so obsessed with this character
