okay @frereamour i killed your ask for the ask game by accident, but you mentioned being curious about my thoughts on geoscarmark and why mark is there etc…

i kind of went off on a tangent and ignored the ask game questions sorry 😭 i really got far too into it and wrote an essay. the crux of my answer can probably actually just be this link to a fic by brokenfrontwing (famed oscarmark scholar).

now the real answer is that geoscarmark is not a ship that exists outside of mine and few brains. it is more l4stapp3n than brocedes in that it is entirely self indulgent and created to fit a narrative, rather than existing because of an actual narrative based in reality. it is also kind of not real because in my version of it - which i will elaborate on in a moment - also has toto as an integral element, however geoscarmarktoto is an unsexy mouthful and would be an ugly url.

the self indulgent, fully aware i’m making shit up, answer is that i’m just very into the different ways that two ‘father figure’ relationships (oscarmark vs georgetoto) are interpreted. oscarmark, in most cases, is presented in a way that is almost wholesome in some regards, at least before you think about it too much. it is the prevailing opinion that mark cares too much for oscar. also to be acknowledged, if taken at face value and seemingly proven recently, it is oscar with the employer power, however much mentor/mentee relationships may fuck with that. now georgetoto on the other hand tends to be considered a sinister pairing. the primary interpretation by many is that both due to the way the business is and the way toto is (lewis’ spectre is ever present) george will never receive the level of…something…whether that may be devotion or respect or even love, that he would like from toto. if you look at these ships from these lenses, they are almost two sides of the same age gap manager yaoi coin.

from this perspective, it is just then fun to imagine what would happen if they were to intercept. mark & toto don’t seem to have a connection at least publicly, and toto doesn’t seem to fuck with oscar all that much (potentially just because horner does, who knows) so geoscarmark would be the most likely way for this interception. george often takes alonso’s jet with mark & oscar and is one of the current grid that follows his socmed. then obviously you have the moment we all know in singapore where they are clearly comfortable enough with each other for mark to show him physical affection in sympathy (i can’t imagine george and jenson, for example, doing all that). georgemark is fun to me as a pathetic4pathetic pairing…they’d have the world’s wettest most depressing sex ever. now where oscar fits into it is in the concept that yes mark is somewhat of an oldmanpervert and just likes young men who he finds pretty and talented. see mark randomly mentioning ‘georgieboy’s’ abs that one time. so it can be fun to imagine a horny mark webber getting greedy and wanting both. but mostly it is just interesting to imagine a mark - who is already somewhat against toto - being a comfort for george. maybe someone who isn’t connected to merc that he can complain to. and then he, who believes he gives his boy everything if not too much, can also give george everything he wants from toto. however what is beautiful is that he would never be able to because he isn’t toto and he isn’t a billionaire TP and being an older father figure isn’t enough, especially one who will always put oscar first anyway.

now i’ve already said far too much but the place that geoscarmark falls apart FOR ME (apart from the whole being entirely made up and baseless thing) is the geoscar part. i know i’m a geoscar enjoyer but i’m mostly joking when i say that 😭 it is just me putting my two main barbie’s together for play time. they would never have sex on their own accord in my mind like i just do not see it. i think it’s fun that oscar clearly wants to be Part Of The Gang and is therefore charmed by george sometimes, and that george enjoys being cocksure with oscar, but ultimately george is lando’s guy. if we’re talking actual shipping im more interested in oscar and alex rather than george, i think they’re much more compatible in that way.

i actually have to say that i do not ship george/toto in the "normal" way, i just think his relationship to george and how it affects him is so fascinating and it gives some of my favorite george ships sooooooo much flavor, so i have to salute him for that 🫡

but now you opened my mind to something i hadn't thought about before. the mark/toto of it all. not in a "they're having sex way" (though don't let me get in the way of a good time, you know what i mean?), but like. the tension of it all. let me put my geoscarmark hat on: does toto resent mark for taking away his loyal toy? does toto care? does he try to get george back (knowing he will still never fully give george everything he wants)? does toto try something with oscar because he knows that's where it would hurt mark the most (whether he thinks he has a chance or not it's irrelevant)? does mark want to snarl and bare his teeth at toto for the damage done to george, because if there's one thing he is it's a loyal dog, and oscar has to keep him on a tight leash? do they (oscmark) even care that much about george emotionally to want to spit on toto's face or are they just using his body? do they see the broken bird underneath the layers and layers of put-togetherness? do they nurse him back to health? does george even want to be?

About the way George's eyes had held his for a beat too long before he'd nodded once, sharp and knowing.

About months of careful not-looking that had become its own kind of looking.

the craziest thing which maybe you’ve mentioned is how many times Toto spoke about Oscar negatively when being asked about the alpine scandal a while back and how Oscar better be fast bc the way he’s moving is unloyal and bad for his career. Like damn… ok…. Good thing Oscar IS fast 😴😴🙂‍↕️ anyway great rpf fodder.

loyalty seems to mean a lot to both mark and toto, but to me the difference feels like mark thinks loyalty is earned (and alpine did not earn oscar's loyalty, so he got him out of there) while toto thinks loyalty is owed (which is why he had such a low opinion of oscar leaving the team that, in his eyes, gave him his racing career so brazenly). i really wanna know what toto thinks of oscar now, i need to know if he managed to impress toto enough to get that bad taste out of his mouth. does he see how much oscar protects his team to the media and maybe starts to think he's not the selfish kid he tought? with toto, does the first impression speak louder than change? in geoscedesmark (is that the name?) rpf world i think oscar and toto don't really fuck with each other, at least not at first, and it makes the rpf so good in the scrambled eggs of thoughts and ideas in my head!

regarding the piasco, toto is a team principal and the ceo of mercedes, so he put himself in alpine's shoes, and that's why he didn't like what happened and how oscar delt with it (namely the tweet). regarding george, and this is heavily impacted by my rpf rotted brain, so be aware of that, i think toto likes to put him through those humiliation rituals to see just how much he can push george's buttons and have him crawling back home at the first call. and george always comes back. george's loyalty to toto and mercedes is on the level of charles leclerc with ferrari, and i am sick and tired of people not seeing it! maybe toto sees himself as the one who is owed loyalty, that's why he doesn't protect george the way a manager should (relevant to the conversation, the way mark protects oscar). also because he has a whole company to care for, so george can't be his priority, even if he wanted to. the heartbreaking part is that i don't think he wants to, not anymore at least, not since kimi. and that's what pushes george into oscmark's bed hehehehe
