I finally got to debut my drow blood hunter in last nights DnD session, it was super intense. Sometimes the character feels different than you expect when you finally slip into their head.

My very traumatized DnD NPC Y’Ladara before and after. I’m so looking forward to getting to play her recovery from the horrible cult of Lolth and rediscovering her joy for life.

My girlfriend got me some dice for her, and I used some of the colors to inspire her outfit.

My girlfriend @aorryn47 was unhappy with cannon drow lore. So they sat down and made a whole shit ton of lore for their characters backstory. Like, language, biomes, cultures, the works. (If you’re familiar with DnD lore Lolth is the major diety of the drow and they’re portrayed as evil. The revised lore is that Eilistraee was the creator of the drow and Lolth conned them into worshipping her so there’s two factions of drow society.)

Now that I’m going to be playing a character from the same background they’re sharing all of the tons of stuff they created and are still amazed when I’m drilling into the minutiae of their day to day lives in the cult of Lolth.

“What is a common insult? Is it based on things that eat spiders? Is there a mess hall? I think there would be ritual fighting, would it go like this? I think hair would symbolize the strands of web that connects them to Lolth, thoughts? Sex is very casual is there a commonly recognized signal for ‘let’s fuck?’”

So now we’re just building up all these tiny details together. They keep saying they never thought anyone would see their document and that they’d been so thorough but I was still finding all sorts of things they hadn’t thought of. It’s been really fun coming up with this horrible cult. It’ll be even better to roleplay our characters getting to fully break away from it.

So one of our players does the audio editing for our DnD podcast Gepzis Found. And sometimes as he edits he’ll apparently cut funny clips for a personal folder.

This is how I walked downstairs into my own living room to hear my disembodied voice saying, “fourteen pounds of man meat-“ repeatedly. Everyone was laughing hysterically and I was like- why is my voice saying 14lbs of man meat??? What is happening?

Apparently a lot of the clips involve our horrible lad cat, Korben, who I at one point referred to as 14lbs of man meat.

For my DnD podcast Gepzis Found (which you can indeed find and listen to on all podcasting platforms, I know you were wondering) we use a Yeti microphone to record. The problem is our rogue and DM are Really Quiet.

So while scrolling book face yesterday I came across another Yeti microphone for a great deal. A quick poll of the group and everyone was into the idea so we snagged it. The seller said cash worked best. After a quick check we had $55 cash. I offered to venmo them the remainder and hesitantly said “Although, I also have $5 in coins if that’s not obnoxious?”

They were delighted as they have coin laundry machines. They also told me they played DnD. So that’s when I decided to make the $5 in coins looks like this:

I will feel as though I am paying for magical goods and services and I hope they feel the same.

So in our DnD podcast Gepzis found one of our players is a celestial warlock but we have no fucking idea what he actually pacted with. When he describes it he calls it “Bunny”. Later he told us he fucked the bunny.

The player for him approached me after last session and said “Hey, can you draw Bunny for me? I can’t really do female forms like you.”

I paused and asked, “How would you describe the Bunny? In like three words.”

“Sexy, buxom, manipulative.”

“Oh,” I said, “so what you want is furry art?”

“Yeah!”

“Okay, I can do that. But you’ve gotta design my new armor cause I can’t be fucked making technical shit.”

Oh my god. I doubt anyone listens to the Gepzis Found podcast but if you do, spoilers ahead.

Yesterday in DnD adventures my centaur Kavan got betrayed by her girlfriend who got the party imprisoned by the Evil Guys, watched her best friend Änrynn get blasted into unconsciousness (twice) then dragged away to face her abusive cult leader mom, and had to watch the kid they rescued slowly going insane for complicated reasons.

THEN I hopped over and played the horribly abused long lost love interest of Änrynn who was sure she was being psychologically tortured some more when faced with Änrynn in captivity. She tried to help her escape and had their mom-stand-in abusive cult leader tell her how disappointed she was in her. Then Änrynn’s unconscious body was pulled away from her.

And finally Kavan got to have it out with her shitty girlfriend and work through their escape from captivity before gearing up to try to rescue Änrynn.

I am. So tired. Been functionally brain dead all day. It feels silly sometimes how much emotional energy gets funneled into a game I play for fun but the highs make it worth the lows.
