Gerard Terborch (b.1617-d.1681), 'Portrait of a Gentleman', early 1650s, oil on panel, Dutch, currently in the collection of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Winchester, VA, USA.
Gerard Terborch is one the best known seventeenth-century Dutch artists. He often isolated his sitters against a neutral background, as here. This portrait of Gaspar van Kinschot was part of a set that included an image of a woman, likely his wife. The portraits were separated sometime before 1939. (x)
