Slovakia’s IDM scene is alive and well on Fallgrapp’s dynamic new vinyl release of ‘Rieka’

I would personally like to thank Mr. Vlado Skubla the A&R / Management director of GERGAZ Label for mailing me this vinyl record all the way from Slovakia. I was first introduced to ‘Fallgrapp’ and Vlado via twitter after my record review of the excellent FLOEX ‘Zorya’ LP in the Czech Republic several months back. We stayed in touch via e-mail and he kindly mailed me a copy.

Fallgrapp’s electronica release ‘Rieka’ was initially released as a Compact Disc / Digital Download Album file in March 9th of 2014 on GERGAZ(GNL027). It’s official Vinyl release date was March 31, 2016.

Rieka translated from Slavic means ‘River’. And that is exactly what Fallgrapp’s beautiful new vinyl record is . . .    a long, winding, creative musical flowing ‘river’ of a record! For fans of Intelligent Dance Music or the intersection of Eastern European Electronica with World music, I would recommend ‘Rieka’ without reluctance.

Rieka was deftly produced by Slovak producer Juraj “Jures” Liska. Liska really knows how to streamline and mix the beautiful analog sounds of Violin, vocals, organic electronica and hip-hop elements into one cohesive album. Such a lush, international, and textural record- capturing the European flavor / flair of modern downtempo-electronica music.

Tracklist

Side A 1 Nádych - A bright, cheerful, electronica instrumental opener on this beautiful record. Love it!

2 Vlasy - A very nice uptempo electronica track, good beats and musicianship here. Vlasy is a very concise sounding song, gorgeous female singing on this number.

3 Rieka - A beautifully sung vocal title track swirling violins in the background.

4 Origami - Great uptempo beat and synth melodies interplay nicely on this stellar instrumental track. A real toe tapper of a song - - great intelligent dance music and electronica. Things really come together well on this creative cut. Absolutely my favorite song on the record. Standout Track!

5 Z Tvojich Pier - Melancholy, abounds on this downtempo world music number. The track features a female singer and picks up the pace around mid-number.

Side B

6 Ľadový Útes - Starts out whimsical and then evolves into a more solidified number. Again beautiful Slovak singing on this track.

7 I.N.A - Funky percussion / drum beats start out this track, then it melds into funky female singing and trip hop beats. Eastern European neo soul /hip hop track. Standout track!

8  Zrkadlia Nás - A nice number with mid-tempo, wafting keyboards. Mellow electronica, female singing,

9 Arca Natura - Synth heavy, modern sounding, dense track with nice classical strings-featuring male vocals.
