What ARE your feelings on the German Confederation (as mentioned by Albrecht von Closen)?

Dear Haloveir,

Albrecht Von Closen is a dear friend, you must forgive me as our conversations are much more direct and perhaps harsh concerning politics than I would speak of in polite company. It is known between my confidants that I lean on the more progressive side, and the German Confederation is, to put it plainly, a collection of discordant states all acting as a ball and chain to each other, keeping them from ever progressing into something more proper and respectable. It is repressive, and I laugh at anyone who claims the German Confederacy has any hopes of overpowering England.

That is not to say I look down on Albrecht, as his family is in power of Württemberg. I have also made brief visits, to Bavaria at least. The land is gorgeous and a deep green that is not found here, especially since the start of our industrialization. It is a lovely place to visit.

Anthony, King of Saxony

Anthony of Saxony (German: Anton; 27 December 1755 – 6 June 1836) was a King of Saxony from the House of Wettin. He became known as Anton der Gütige ("Anthony the Kind").

He was the fifth but third surviving son of Frederick Christian, Elector of Saxony and his wife Duchess Maria Antonia of Bavaria.

Princess Alexandrine of Baden (1820-1904)

Alexandrine was the eldest daughter of Leopold, Grand Duke of Baden. She had married the Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on 3 May 1842, a few weeks before their visit to London when this portrait was painted, together with a companion painting of her husband (RCIN 404519). Queen Victoria found her 'a most amiable, sensible, and gentle creature, and without being really handsome, very pretty and pleasing'.
