MAG 62 “First Edition” review:

What the fuck is happening!!!!!! First MAG 61 and the fucking continuation of MAG 002, now we don’t only get a Gertrude tape but also it’s with fucking Mary Keay? Which means it’s connected to Jurgen Fucking Leitner. I don’t know what’s worse, her general creep factor of the fact that she confirmed that Leitner is boring.

And also the Keay family used to be a part of the Magnus Institute? To tell you the truth, I’ve always felt like all these statements were old. I keep forgetting that those like this one were recorded in modern years like 2008. It feels strange to think that all this stuff is so close together. Well, except for the Alexandria and the Cannibal one. But I’m getting off track.

I think because Keay wasn’t spooked 8 wasn’t spooked either. Doctors killing yoy is not a great thing, but not entirely unheard of. One of the greatest serial killers was a British doctor if i remember correctly. I’m just so curious as to what they do with the bodies. The original owner of the book in this one was using it for extortion, but that lady seemed to be actually dead.

Also what really was the book in the first place? I feel like I missed that bit. She did some wavy hand things an spoke aloud, she injected something into a lady who died, and she made a previous patient give her money or something to that effect. Nothing much interesting in the end.

And what’s this about the Keay family being gifted with the touch of the supernatural? From the sounds of it, they had something even before Keay did some shit with the Leitner books. All correct me if I’m wrong but she is the of lady in tattoos from MAG 4, right?

Actually, give me a second, I mgoing to look through the episodes and list all the statements I think are connneted to either the Keays or to Leitner.

MAG 4, MAG 17, MAG 23, MAG 35, MAG 46, MAG 49, possibly MAG 57, and now MAG 62. Some of these are a stretch, but I’m somewhat certain.(EDIT: I’m looking through my old reviews. Gerard Keay is mention in MAG 48!)(EDIT EDIT: all MAG 41 lol)

More often than not these tapes focused on the grandson, not Mary. Can’t remember his name these days. Well, either her grandson, or the man who ran off with the Bone Turner’s Tale. There’s still a lot about all of these people I can’t remember immediately, and likely to be a lot more in the future.

I’m giving this episode a 7 homicides out of 10 false ambulances. Would commit medical malpractice again.

Elias grows more suspect by the hour. I think he’s innocent, but only regarding the death of Gertrude. Only time will tell who he truly is. I agree with Sims current standpoint on revealing nothing to him. NOW ONLY IF HE could FIGURE OUT NOT!SASHA NEXT JESUS

What ARE your feelings on the German Confederation (as mentioned by Albrecht von Closen)?

Dear Haloveir,

Albrecht Von Closen is a dear friend, you must forgive me as our conversations are much more direct and perhaps harsh concerning politics than I would speak of in polite company. It is known between my confidants that I lean on the more progressive side, and the German Confederation is, to put it plainly, a collection of discordant states all acting as a ball and chain to each other, keeping them from ever progressing into something more proper and respectable. It is repressive, and I laugh at anyone who claims the German Confederacy has any hopes of overpowering England.

That is not to say I look down on Albrecht, as his family is in power of Württemberg. I have also made brief visits, to Bavaria at least. The land is gorgeous and a deep green that is not found here, especially since the start of our industrialization. It is a lovely place to visit.

MAG 23 happens in Germany. Colin was learning German to deal with all the supernatural IT shit.

--STATEMENT--

-not only is this the first Letter Statement, but this one came from before the institute was founded. iirc Jon said that the earliest possible statements would be from the year the institute was founded (1818), and this letter's from 1816. so I guess Jonah Magnus's friends were telling him spooky little stories before he had a whole institute dedicated to storing them

-guy sees 'ghostly figures'

-guy walks through a cemetery covered in snow and finds it creepy

-sees a spooky mausoleum

-sees a spooky old man, old man says it's a 'dangerous place'. then disappears.

~INTERRUPTION~

-Martin's walking around the archives half naked because I guess this is his home now

-Jon's coming in to work Early (pre-7am?? my guy are you ok? what time do you wake up in the morning to get here pre-sunrise??)

-no new news on Jane Prentiss

--Back to the STATEMENT--

-guy considers the layout and building plan of the mausoleum to not be what he expected to find within a mausoleum

-at least 2 'large blocks of marble'

-and a coffin (<- my GUY what did you expect to find in a mausoleum)

-walls are covered in bookshelves, but books are weathered and damaged

-shelves engraved with eyes. this is very spooky to him.

-finds 1 decent quality book written in arabic (<- he can't read arabic)

^book is beautiful. he steals it. also steals gold coin he found

-he's going to bring the book to Jonah next time he sees him <-Jonah Magnus can potentially read arabic

-coin says 1279 and has an image of Some Guy. other side reads 'Für die Stille'

-I do feel the need to point out the line "...one of the servant girls, Hilda, or Helga, I forget..." guy doesn't even know the names of his own servants. whatever happens to this guy, he deserves it and I have no mercy or pity for him

-servant girl tells our guy a story about this spooky little game people used to play by the tombs. like 1800s equivalent of bloody mary

-guy sees an extra set of footprints headed towards his house.

-man from cemetery who tried to warn him at the start turns out to be Eyeless but Seeing. he's about to do some harm but then Something Happens and he outright Disappears

-our guy goes home early because he's spooked. his gold coin is missing now too.

post-statement:

-Jon's happy about finding his first letter, wants to know more about Jonah and the institute's history

-Jon found 1 reference to spooky dead guy in a german history reference book, possibly friends with witches

-some guy died Very Violently after stealing from von Closen's nephew

-no records of Albrecht von Closen

-Jon says he "simply [doesn't] have time to indulge [his] own curiosity like that" (in reference to reading through all the historical statements in the archives). my GUYYYYY I have fantastic news for you,,, your job is literally to indulge your curiosity. go ahead and read whatever statements you want :D

-Wilhelm von Closen (Albrecht's nephew) is an ancestor of Mary Keay (and by extension Gerard Keay)
