You can tell a lot about someone by the type of music they listen to. Hit shuffle on your iPod, phone, iTunes, media player, etc. and write down the first 20 songs. Then pass this on to 10 people. One rule: no skipping.
Skyfall - Adele
Der Himmel soll warten - Sido
If it means a lot to you - A Day to Remember
Apologize - Timbaland ft. OneRepublic
View to a kill - Duran Duran
A quoi sert de vivre libre - Fanny Ardant
Des milliers de baisers - Celine Dion
Il n'y a pas d'amour heureux - Danielle Darrieux
Je veux - Zaz
Another brick in the wall - Pink Floyd
Because of you - Kelly Clarkson
Say you, say me - Lionel Richie
La valse d'Amélie (orchestral) - Yann Tiersen
Holiday - Green Day
My heart will go on - Punisher
Nobody's home - Avril Lavigne
Not coming back - Daniel Powter
Jealous Guy - Roxy Music
Leave - JoJo
Hips don't lie - Shakira

German Accent Meme, as created by Germannn,
ORIGIN: Born and raised in the Philippines, living and learning German in Singapore.
ADDITIONAL INFO: I've been studying German for a little over two years here in Singapore, and I'm currently at the B2 level. I've been to Germany thrice, but last summer was the first time I tried to use the language as much as I could. I've been told I don't have much of an accent, but even listening back to this video, I can tell there are some words which I say with an American (maybe) accent.
Hey :) I've got a little bit different question. I'm supposed to write "Bachelorsarbeit" in german language which was unexpected for me and I have to decide about the subject before friday. Do you know any german university websites which contain subjects of such thesis' connected with translation, german culture or linguistics?
In general: No. But I just googled and at least I found a list of linguistics related course papers etc. here. Maybe that’s a start.
And there is the forum of the linguisten tumblr. In this thread there are many people looking for topics as well. That could be inspiring?
If anyone else has ideas for iluvbayern, you know what to do! ;)
This is for Germannn's German Accent Meme.
Here's the post if you would like to participate!

Origin/Current location: New York City, USA. (Another American accent in the meme! haha :P)
Background: I was born and lived my whole life (so far) in the US. I was raised by monolingual parents, so I was surrounded only by English until I started language classes at age 12, and have been "addicted" to language learning for the past 7 years.
German Background: I started learning German when I was 14. I self-taught myself German for 3 1/2 years. I took two German courses (1 year total) while in university last year - so about 5 years total now. I currently have no German classes right now, but I'm still trying to learn.
Any German natives (or more advanced learners), please feel free to give any constructive criticism on pronunciation. Thank you! :)

The text I'm reading: "Ich weiß nicht, was du damit meinst", sagte sie. (“Eisbären” by Marie Luise Kaschnitz.)
I did this little reading for germannn at the suggestion of a friend. Feel free to comment/laugh.
From the USA (Florida) and in my fourth semester of German.
German Accent Meme [x]
Origin: US (Mid-Atlantic region)
Additional Info: I'm a high school student; this is my fifth year taking German in school. I took the AP exam last year and was lucky enough to manage a 5 (my speaking parts on the actual exam were extremely bad due to nerves). German's my third language, because I speak in Mandarin at home with my parents.
I, as a Dutchie loving German and Germans, saw this on a wonderful blog about the German language and I had to participate. This is me reading this text out loud. I'm Dutch and had my first lesson of German about 12 years ago. After my high school I went to Vienna to take extra courses and right now I'm spending a lot of time in Germany and Austria, talking with friends over there.
It's strange to hear myself talking in German, because I clearly hear that some sounds are "wrong" and that I made a few mistakes. But well, isn't that the idea of this thing? At least my grammar is right this time ;-)
