Today Nusrat Welfare Organization Conducted a session on First Aid and First Respond in times of disaster,in collaboration with #frip and department of Sociology . Haiti: Year Zero. She was the first cholera patient I would see, the first of many. She was dehydrating quickly so the serum was being administered through the nose by a Red Cross german doctor in a field hospital in the town of Arcahaie, some 40 kms north of Port-Au-Prince. It was mid october and 500 people had already died of the disease unknown to the island. There were another 7000 documented infections. Soon we would get reports that the disease was brought in by UN Nepalese peace forces who had discarded their sewage into the Artibonite river. They would deny it and still do. However, the cholera strain discovered was from south asia and the same found in Nepal.
