Geralt rode Płotka to a clearing where Roche stood, lost in thought. At the end of the day, certain truths were revealed in the moonlight, while others would remain there forever.

Geralt felt the weight of what had already been said pressing forward, demanding continuation. Roche, he could tell, wanted the opposite. Wanted the conversation buried, sealed, forgotten beneath discipline and rank and all the careful structures that made a life survivable. Geralt had never been good at leaving graves undisturbed. He took a step closer.
