a freeing silence --- left unattended for the first time since they’ve embarked from the gerudo canyon stable on the way to the bazaar. they’ve made a bit of a checkpoint here, the knight needing to stock up on whatever he needs before they continue traveling.
as thrilled as the royal highness is to reunite with their beloved godmother & begin work on vah naboris, the voyage has been mind-numbingly dull so far. footsteps on sand only accompanied by a private game of drilling holes into the back of their guard’s head with a furious stare until he senses it somehow & turns back to catch a chaser in the act... where he’ll find that there is no one there but the princess, paying close attention to the sand. it drives him mad. however, such things are not enough to quell a necessity for something to fixate on.
the ennui is what got zelda stuck in the middle of a sandstorm --- how they’ve found themselves in this situation is one for the books: quite the distance from the bazaar, green eyes caught sight of a familiar orange glow that usually accompanied ancient sheikah shrines. they’ve slipped away thinking it would be a quick trip --- upon scoping the area, it had been clear & unclouded... but sudden changes of wind direction in the area are unpredictable & downright relentless.
zelda doesn’t want to cry, but the wind cruelly whips sand into their face, their slate malfunctioning --- there is just no way out. logically, if they are to take to a straight line & trudge onwards, they’ll either find an edge to follow or make it out of the storm, but it's been ages since they started walking, trapped in an inescapable blustering mess of particles. heart pounding, what if nobody finds them? what if somebody dangerous does? this is where they meet their fate --- aptly, as a byproduct of their foolishness & stubborn pursuit for knowledge. they’re swimming in guilt & self-pity, wishing urbosa was here to pet their hair.
they had a rough couple of weeks before today. they’re mewling like a babe by the time that they spot a strange light in the chaos --- a glowing lantern, an otherworldly aura.
“ please, please help me, ” they cry out, desperate. not even acknowledging that it could be an adversary or a monster, they head to the source of the glow. “ please, i’m lost & i can’t see very well... ”
