Dude I just had a vision. Jay, local bug nerd, teaching Kai, local I fucking hate bugs guy, helping Kai with his fear of bugs.

Maybe they’re our training and suddenly Jay finds a firefly struggling on the ground (maybe they accidentally hit it?) and he goes to gently pick it up and Kai’s like “ew ew we please don’t get near me with that thing” - cue to Jay softly helping Kai get over his fear by having him hold the firefly in his hands and stuff. Eventually the firefly recovers and flies away or some shit but yes.

Even better if Kai remembered these moments when he’s going agaisnt his fuckass centipede great grandfather or smth

YEAGHHHHGGHHH….. buggy plasma i love you. and Btw i like to think the real reason kai is scared of bugs to begin with is actually jay being a little shit when they were younger and chasing him around with all kinds of insects. yeah he threw a beetle at him and called it exposure therapy. But then fast forward he has a change of heart or whatevevrrervrrrr . He has matured❤️❤️❤️ they have their little bonding moment. jay’s like ‘omg why are u so scared lol’ like HE wasn’t the reason kai had to develop bug-specific coping mechanisms . kai’s like 😳 gee maybe bugs aren’t so bad?? and jay’s like wow i’m such a good teacher <33333 as if this isn’t literally just damage control. They hold the firefly AND each others hands it’s super romantic everyone cheers in the background

ALSO CONSIDER HIM SEEING A FIREFLY IN THE LAND OF MONSTERS TOO . and it makes him think of jay and 😞😞😞😞 worst part is idiot jay doesn’t remember any of it now anyway

I would like to call attention to the eastern dobsonfly. It is a very good bug and deserves love! I have attached pics of the two times I have encountered one in the wild for your enjoyment. Yes this pupae was the same size as the adult.

Bugsona! Their name is Nada, nickname Empanada. Inspired by the Empusa pennata! A close friend of mine is studying to be an entomologist, and a few of us made sonas to celebrate him starting his second year of classes!

I've only very recently started drawing. 20 something years on Earth and l've yet to pick up a pencil for anything but storytelling. Nada is one of the first things l've ever drawn! I'm still so new to art, so please be gentle :)
