Challenge Idea!

I’ve never done a tumblr challenge. So! Bear with me.

I would like to propose a challenge. So many of us are stuck at home, not getting dressed, not wearing makeup, because “Why bother?” So. To give us a reason to show off our clothes and makeup and good hair days, to get us in the shower and exfoliating and taking fashion risks, I’d like to start a Get Fancy Challenge!

Here’s the idea:

I choose a day, probably a work day so people who are doing videoconferences, and say it’s time to get fancy.

Participants (meaning whoever wants to do it) put on cute clothes, do their hair, put on makeup, and look their best, then take selfies or have someone else in their house take pictures. Then they post them, tag me and tag “#get fancy challenge” and I reblog them.

These things are encouraged:

Formalwear

Makeup

Fancy hairdos

Drag

Makeup risks (goth, punk, that one eyeshadow color you’ve always thought was too much)

Clothing risks (those “Why do I never wear this?” clothes)

Jewelry

Casual wear that you just love

Filters

These things are unnecessary:

Critiquing your appearance

Critiquing anyone else’s appearance

Following me

Conventional beauty

As a trial run, I would like to suggest we start on MONDAY, MARCH 30. I’ll put up an entry early that day as an example.

We’re all stuck at home...let’s work on our smoky eyes and screw around with the hair gel and learn to braid and look awesome!

Get Fancy challenge #2

Another thing that I love and stopped wearing: Headbands! I really don’t know why, they are pretty much insta-cute 😁. (Two hours later: Oh, right, because they can be pretty annoying 😅. So not everyday wear.)

I also love this dress, even if I have slightly ambivalent feelings towards wearing it (/dresses in general) ...

Headbands and circle skirts - hm, somehow my ideal fashion decade has shifted from the 70s to the 50s!

I did my hair fancy for @insertcaffeine ‘s fancy challenge!! I used a snapchat filter for makeup because my face is getting used to being bare and I am working on my skinnnn (while I have the time lol)

Good morning! Today I participated in @insertcaffeine’s #getfancychallenge and kept it pretty classic because I had to update my headshot for work. I always get so nervous with these to look “professional” enough since I’m so young but this is the face that I have 🤷‍♀️. I hope everyone is having a good Good Friday!

I totally put makeup on ya’ll ( @insertcaffeine )

It’s not the best because I’m still trying to figure out my skin issues and when to use medication and I don’t have all the right tools and doing eye make up sucks with my vision lol...

But I did it...it’s very purple...and not great...but I did it!

I’m a day late for @insertcaffeine‘s Get Fancy challenge because I didn’t get around to dying my hair until late last night.

The actual dying was easy, but washing it out turned into quite a roller coaster. The blue splattered all over the shower and wasn’t washing off with my hands, so I jumped out and grabbed a rag and a bottle of cleaner. Dropped the cleaner, which would’ve been fine except it was a glass bottle. As it’s falling, I’m picturing it shattered all over the floor of the shower. It stayed in tact, but it broke a pretty big chunk of enamel off the tub... That’s a problem for future me, but it makes me really glad I rent from a reasonable human being and not a management company.

Get Fancy Challenge #1!

Today I decided to go casual, and look pink, soft, and cute.

The shirt comes from the "Why do I never wear this?" drawer. (Answer: Twin Bro gave it to me. He's thinner than me. The shirt didn't fit and I forgot about it... until now)

The makeup is a combo of e.l.f. and Wet N Wild, because I'm a broke ass who loves cruelty free products.
