Are you searching for a job right now? Are you flinging your resumes and cover letters into the void in the cold and bitter hopes that someone, somewhere, might hire you to do something that you don't actually want to do for far too many hours a week in this, your one and precious life?
If so, I am fucking begging you to please for the love of god use a real grownup-sounding email and name your resume and cover letter something that is not KeyboardSmash.jpg.docx(1).pdf*
When you send me a resume that's like Janet Smith, [email protected], you do seem fun. You do. But I'm not hiring you to be fun, I'm hiring you to be someone who won't burn the place down or leave the place unlocked all weekend.
Also, HR has to be able to successfully email you to tell you that you got the job, and there seems to be a real inverse correlation between that and the number of Xs and underscores in the email they're trying to type. Assume everyone at HR has resumes named KeyboardSmash.jpg.docx(1).pdf and is real good at computer, and plan accordingly.
If you're like "But I never check [email protected] and therefore won't see the acceptance email anyway :(", most email systems will let you auto-forward anything that comes in to another email address. Set the grownup-sounding email to forward to the email you do check.
Please also for the love of fuck stop putting your birthdate in your goddamned grownup-sounding email. Employers aren't allowed to ask outside of "are you old enough to legally have this job" for a reason. Stop just handing them that information for free.
*Also do not fucking name it Resume.pdf. There comes a point when a hiring committee that's wading through 53 files helpfully named Resume.pdf starts developing a really unreasonable fondness for the one motherfucker who thought to name their resume JacobRoberts_Resume_Position#.pdf
