progress on snake mansion 2k15!
it’s slow going because it keeps raining and i manage to make a weird mistake on every step that sets me back but seems to overall be making an even better snake mansion since i have to think creatively to fix stuff and tend to end up with an even better solution
for example i cut the sides off of the laminate bottom/lining of the cabinet without realizing there was nothing else really holding it up. So i reinforced the whole thing, covered all of it in vinyl tile (which needs glued down a little better but yeah) and sealed all the edges with silicone to make a much nicer looking snake mansion interior than what i started with. also, waterproof and easy to clean!
cutting the acrylic is a lot harder than i thought it would be. like i thought i could score/break it like glass but learned the hard way that i could not, so i’ve been painstakingly cutting it with a jigsaw. a lot of trial/error/having to rethink how i’m gonna do the panels becase i’m damaging all of my materials haha.
still i got most of the pieces cut now, just gotta get the sawdust blown out and get everything attached/sealed.
the right side panel will be a sliding window for easy access to snake mansion. the top lid will be removable if necessary but the side access should be enough to clean/feed/pet the snake friend. the light will fit between the enclosure lid and the top of the dresser, which i will reattach with a hinge.
