Service Task Training: Fetch Water
Activity: Service Task Fetch Water Date/ Time: 30/9/17 Afternoon Location: Own bedroom Conditions/ Area Type: Limited space, well known area, air-conditioned Mood: Both of us were tired from a long drive
Discussion: After a long drive Altier was seeking attention and although I was tired I knew I needed to get up. I had yet to take my meds and am trying to get Altier to fetch me water in the morning. This is to be one of his main service tasks. Altier is meant to fetch me a bottle of water when I say “Get the Water/ Get Water”. The task is broken up into “Get” for picking up objects; “Give" for placing said object in hand; and “Drop It” for releasing the object if he has yet to. When he has completed the command sequence successfully he gets half the water into his own water bowl after I have taken my meds.
Additional Comments: Although he knows the commands Altier often is very willful. I am hoping that having a reward of fresh water in the morning, and the daily routine will encourage him to do the task every time I wake up.
