Gethzerion was the name of a human Nightsister leader from Singing Mountain Clan, who introduced in the 1994 novel The Courtship of Princess Leia.

Gethzerion was a Dathomiri witch who realized at a young age that she could manipulate the Force without the use of the ritual chantings that prescribed by her people's traditions, a feat which only two others had managed before her. At some point in the waning days of the Old Republic, Gethzerion and one her clan sisters attempted to assassinate Mother Augwyne, matriarch of the Singing Mountain clan and Gethzerion's mother. The two women were banished according to custom and forced to live in the wilderness in solitude and contemplation.
Gethzerion united those exiled sisters, eventually called Nightsisters, who had used the Dark side of the Force. The Nighsisters eventually came to be a clan of their own that exceeded the strength of the Singing Mountain Clan by threefold in 8 ABY. Emperor Palpatine knew of Gethzerion's power and mandated that Dathomir be quarantined so that Gethzerion could never leave the planet, though she could continue to rule the planet as she pleased. She plotted for years to get enough parts together to create a ship that would get off planet and away from the blockade that Zsinj, who Palpatine had appointed to watch the planet, had set up.
When Han Solo crash landed the Millennium Falcon on the planet in 8 ABY she thought she had finally found a way off planet. However Luke Skywalker and her niece Teneniel Djo proved formidable opponents to her and she attempted to flee in a troop carrier Zsinj had sent down to the planet to collect Solo. Zsinj, however, shot the carrier down and Gethzerion died. The Nightsister Clan was easily dealt with without its powerful leader's presence.
