Some people have an extreme desire to be relevant.
Therefore they insert themselves into topics and conversations that they really don’t have the information and knowledge needed to know what they are talking about. For example ......
* If I have a sort of co-worker
* Well maybe not a co-worker but a sort of consultant for a company that I work for
*The company keeps her around because she invented a product and the company bought said product. The company has changed this product and made many improvements to it.
* Say that the two of us live and work in completely different countries
* Say the two of us only actually lay eyes on each other a few days a year
* Say we are most certainly not close friend or confidents
* BUT...said person likes attention and said person would have others believe that she is super knowledgable and involved in my private life
* This person would have my clients believe that she is relevant, so she runs her mouth and speaks about my personal life.
* Sadly, some of my clients may be naive and believe that she actually privy when actually I am merely friendly and kind to her because it would be unprofessional and frowned upon by my bosses not to be.
* I might even go as far to say she is a total weirdo and makes me extremely uncomfortable but I have to “act” as if I am totally fine with her strange behavior.
* Again....... because of my job
* If not for my job, we would not be “friends” or anything else to one another.
* This person likes the attention she receives from my clients when she talks about me. This helps draw attention to her because many of my new clients don’t necessarily enjoy or see the relevancy of her consulting. ACTUALLY, many don’t even know that she originated the product. Oh boy, this person loves to hear herself talk and has a great need for attention. So, she continues to put on the facade that we are entwined in each others lives.
* My hands are tied and I can’t say a thing to this person about her inserting herself where she does not belong.
* Again..... because of my job
* Mission accomplished.
