Fans #GetSyked in NYC
Hot, British sensation Nathan Sykes treated his fans to a night they’ll never forget on July 25th, 2016. On July 6th, Nathan launched #GetSyked, providing chances to surprise fans across the globe. Unlike most contests that have people signing up or competing against one another, #GetSyked has fans helping each other by nominating people they think deserve to be surprised by Nathan.
Following the first round of #GetSyked in Hong Kong and the Philippines, Nathan announced the #GetSykedNYCshow and, suddenly, Twitter was overflowing with nominations. Fans got busy making their 20 second videos to nominate their friends and fellow fans. Throughout the week following nominations, winners were contacted and invited to an exclusive showcase at a cocktail bar in New York City. Winners of all ages were granted exclusive access to the show with the option of a plus one.
Despite the rainy start to the evening, many fans seemed more than happy to wait out in the rain before the show. An hour and a half before doors opened, awaiting fans took to Twitter, expressing their dedication.
When doors opened, fans were further surprised with hoere d'oeuvres, tickets for free drinks, and a wonderful staff to tend to the guests. The atmosphere of the venue was immediately open and relaxed, with most fans congregated at the foot of the stage. While waiting for the “king of soul” to take the stage, fans chatted amicably, danced to music, and laughed amongst themselves.
True to the Sykes way, Nathan entered the stage a few minutes late, but with little complaint from fans. Just before coming up the staircase, Nathan was seen warming up on the floor below. With his manager, Rachel, at his side, Nathan began to jump from side to side and slowly ascend the staircase. With his eyes on the stage, he came up when announced, opening the show to a chorus of screams from his fans.
Throughout the show, Nathan showed off his impressive vocals, moving from note to note easily and belting out notes until any normal person would have been blue in the face. Songs on the setlist included his original songs “Twist,” “Famous,” “Over and Over Again,” “Kiss Me Quick,” and his most recent single, “Give It Up”, as well as a cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”.
However, what there’s more buzz about is what he announced during the show. After leaving fans guessing for months (and dropping hints no one caught), Nathan announced the title of his debut album, “Unfinished Business,” which he also announced will be released worldwide on November 4th, following his upcoming tour with Alessia Cara and Ruth B.
So, after months of teasing his fans with the word “soon,” they finally have an answer as to when, exactly, they will have his album, much to fans’ relief and excitement.
To end a great evening, Nathan stuck around to meet and greet his fans. Slowly making his way through the crowd, he made sure to give everyone a bit of his attention and seemed incredibly grateful for each and every one of them supporting him.
Although we’ve heard of artists occasionally treating their fans, we have to say we’ve never seen an artist go above and beyond for his fans quite like Nathan Sykes does.
The next #GetSyked opportunity is tomorrow, July 28th, for Nathan’s performance at People Now studios in lower Manhattan. Winners have been announced and fans are buzzing with excitement.

Maybe we’re biased, but we think Nathan Sykes will be around for a very long time and we anticipate a lot of success in his future endeavors.

Only two more days left till the GetSykedNYCShow. I'M NOT READY FOR THIS! They better let us meet Nathan. I will cry if they don’t. I miss my teddy bear.
Honestly, I still can’t believe I won. I hardly ever do.
