I Believe in the Power of Prayer
I Believe in the Power of Prayer
After my dads valve replacement in 2013, he was having mini seizures. The on call dr did not take the nurses concerns seriously and wrote it off as tremors from the medications (we found this out later). My step mom and I were in visiting dad when his feet started violently jumping. It moved up to his knees. I ran for help. While the nurses at the nurses station ignored me, my step mom hit the…

I'll post this here because I don't want my Southern Baptist family to get any madder at me.
As an adult, I find it so very uncomfortable when people brag about their kids asking Jesus to enter their hearts (or whatever language they used to get saved). And then making a big deal of baptisms.
When I was a kid, I was pressured into getting saved at church camp. And then baptism happened and I was super nervous. The anxiety was real and none of us ever knew.
I pretty much defaced the Bible I got for my baptism by writing all over the cover. But fuck the KJV anyway.
i saw a lot of different kinds of turtles today 🐢💕
My True Life Story Part 11
During those six months I told Beth that I am going to church whether you come with me or not. This time she said we will all go. She also told be which church we should go to. So come Sunday we went. It had been so long since I had been in one and with all the stuff I have had happen to me, I wasn’t sure if God would let me walk in one. I half way expected a invisible force field around the church that would stop me from going in. But I was able to walk right in. I was relieved. Unlike the so called churches we were forced to go to when we were little. We were greeted by almost everyone in the church. and made to feel very welcome. The Pastor even came to our home to talk to us and answered alot of our questions. We went every Sunday morning and night, and to their mid-week service also. Then one day the pastor followed us out side when we were getting ready to leave. He told us about something called a revival that they were going to have starting the nest day and it would be everyday for a week. He invited us to come to it. The first time I thought of is I will miss all my favorite shows. So I told him we would think about it. So we went home, we did talk about it and So we decided that we would try it out, If we liked it we would go more, if not then we wouldn’t go again. We went the first night and It was very Good! I had heard how Jesus had died before, but this guy sold about it in such detail. It was like I was there. Then he gave an alter call for anyone who wanted to get saved and ask Jesus to be their personal Lord and Savior. He also explained How If your not saved you can Not go to heaven. That is the only sin that will stop you from going. I wanted to go up there so bad. I looked over at Beth to ask her if she would go up with me. But she was putting the coats on our children, then stood up and walked out to the car with out even looking at me. I was so shy and introverted at this time I could not go up there by my self. So I went out to the car too and told her I’m suppose to go up their. she said then go. I asked her if she would come with me, She said No, if you want to do that. you have to do it by yourself. So I started the car and drove home. I did fifteen miles per hour all the way home because I was thinking about this. I was going slow so If I decided I could do it alone it would be faster to turn around. but I got all the way home which was 15 miles away from the church. The I said hang on, I’m going back. I drove back at 45 miles per hour and got there, I went into the church, the Pastor and the Evangelist were still there. I asked them if it was too late. They said No, come up here. So I went up and I got saved. or Born again is another way of saying it also. They then asked me what happened. So I explained to them my ride home and all my thinking. They were very impressed and the evangelist asked me if he could use my story to help others. I said yes, anything to help others get saved. From then on, anytime the doors were open at the church . We were there.
I have alot of memories from my early life but didn’t know how old I was when these things happened. So when I found my dad, I went and stayed with him for a bit to get to know him. He asked me what memories did i have. told him some and he looked so shocked. I asked him what’s wrong. He replied you weren’t even a year old when that happened. and other memories I was less then two years old. I had known about Jesus, giving his life up for us When I was around two years old one day we were in the front yard and she was telling me about how Jesus loved us and he gave up his life for us. an He has to be or Lord and savior. I accepted him then and there, I remember this very clearly. But the way our mother raised us. was like she didn’t want us to be Christians. She sent us to an cult church. and all the other situations she put us all through.
