I spend most of my mornings catching up with news reports. Sorry, I can't do this any longer - it's making me physically ill. I'm going to join the ignorant masses for a while & get back to nature. The mimosas are finally starting to bloom in my neighborhood. I love the bright yellow of their blossoms, it cheers me up no end. A portent of spring coming? I feel so weak, I can barely hold a handstand. I have already excused myself from shooting the next Upper Body & Abs Inferno this week because even a simple sliding exercise feels like hell right now. I did these slow pace exercises for flexibility and upper body and abs strength before shooting the next 15 minute fit slide for the ZGYM. I thought you might like the wall supported exercises for practicing your handstands. The last one is quite challenging but I consider myself intermediate when it comes to challenging upper body exercises such as the handstand, so if you can do legs elevated planks and rolls on the ball, you shouldn't have a problem. I have to press my head against the wall to help my core with more stability and to lift the leg all the way up. Next step would be to lift both legs up - still working on that. Three years! It's taken me three years to teach myself to handstand freely without the helps of a wall! Three years of practice; in classes, at home alone, at the gym, with friends. Three years of frustration and ups and downs in my personal and emotional life. I even quit at one point for about eight months. I won't lie and say that after eight months of no Yoga I was able to just pop right up into a handstand - I did have to go back to the basics - but it just happened tonight. I wasn't really set on doing a handstand and holding it. I remember reading a post from @yoga_girl (a couple of years ago) that sometimes we need to just stop. Stop trying. Stop focusing on it. Go do something else instead and leave whatever it is that's frustrating you on the metaphorical back burner. I didn't intentionally do that but that's what happened. Those words have stuck with me for years now and I finally understand it. I wish other aspects in life were so simple - unfortunately you can't just walk away from your obligations and responsibilities and problems for eight months.
