Got my copyedit back on Grigory’s Gadget!

I’m so excited to move forward! Gail Carriger sums up my reaction to my edits pretty succinctly, per her own reflection upon receiving edits for her novel Soulless:

“Meanwhile, I get Book 1 fixes from editor. I had been led to believe I might cry, so it is a nice surprise to find I can cope with equanimity. Of course, most of the edits were ones I knew I should do, but didn't want to because I'm lazy. Mark my words; a good editor ALWAYS catches you out.” (source)

But I do have a novel to edit >.< 

I do plan on doing Camp NaNoWriMo though, because by then I’ll be focused on the sequel ^_^

We’re halfway through my Indiegogo campaign for Grigory’s Gadget, and have raised over $1,000!!!

This novel will be the first in my Gaslight Frontier series of steampunk adventure novels, and it will be self-published. Because I am self-publishing, there are considerable upfront costs associated with this process. The biggest cost is hiring a professional editor to ensure that my manuscript is up to snuff. I will also hire a book cover designer, who will produce eBook and print book cover designs, social media and marketing images for my novel, and a map of my fictional world. Finally, I will be purchasing ISBNs for each format of my novel.

The Novel: Zoya Orlova and her friends decide to leave their freezing authoritarian home of Lodninsk to start a new life in the tropical paradise of Mirgorod. When pirates attack their passenger ship, the friends find themselves caught in a struggle for possession of Zoya's family heirloom: a small gadget of compacted gears and wires. Unsure what power the gadget holds, Zoya feels she must protect it with her life. Will she and her friends be able to make it safely to their new home?

If my campaign is successfully funded, Grigory's Gadget will be available in March 2016.
