Not really? I think he feels a tad envious of his alts and wants to be like them as quickly as possible. He's an incredibly ambitious person, so all he views his alts as is an achievable goal for himself.

He's not easily deterred, despite his lack of confidence now, he's spent his life chasing success and approval. It'd just be another goal to obtain and surpass.
