Kiki in spring, taking a nap amongst some early flowers! I drew this for a little challenge called Ghibli November, which I joined in with last year as well. A fun excuse to do some fanart!

With this one I played with a few different versions of the background while trying to decide what worked best, more under the cut, along with the challenge card. I actually finished it yesterday, but wanted some feedback from friends before deciding which one to go with.

There’s just something just so evocative and charming about nature reclaimed robots! This is a robot from the Ghibli film Laputa, a little broken, and partially overgrown, but enjoying seeing life happen around him.

This is my autumn artwork for Ghibli November. I’m enjoying doing all these different Ghibli fanarts, that I probably wouldn’t have gotten around to before.

Several days late, but here is the final Ghibli November! I’ve included some of the other sketches I was trying to choose between for this one.

Featuring Mei, Satsuki, and the two smaller totoros. I had them use CDs for the snow totoros eyes, I’m not sure it’s clear! And the little totoro is currently partially invisible, like in the film when he’s trying to sneak off. I’m quite pleased with how colourful I got this, despite the white snow!

This is my red themed artwork for Ghibli November! I immediately wanted to do a picture of the sea plane from Porco Rosso, it's one of my favourite films, and that little red plane holds a very special place in my heart.

Despite my enthusiasm, planes are really really hard to paint, at least for me. I had lots of fun with the lighting, and a lot of struggles with the plane. I think I need to get a model of it - because it's not only beautiful but would also make it easier to draw again. It's good enough for now, but I'd love to revisit it in the future with some improvements to show.

My final Ghibli November artwork! The theme for this one is pink, and how could I resist picking princess Kaguya? My favourite parts of the movie are when she’s truly happy, and I hope I managed to capture her motion and joy here.

So I saw about Ghibli November earlier this week, which I'd forgotten about. It's a bit late into it, but I figured I'd join in! This is my white entry, Haku and the paper cut outs. This is quite a quick one, playing around with the oil paints Max pack, nothing fancy, but it was fun playing around with digital painting again.
