#16 The Cultists

“Why?” asked Even, with an air of calm.

“Ah, wouldn’t you like to know!” said Tulip smugly.

Sigh. The two intruders couldn’t hold back how just they felt their stupid cause was, and explained their motives anyways.

 “We are Tulip and Doctor Rose!” Tulip’s tone immediately swapped to enthusiasm, to the protestation of the so-called Rose.

“We have been trying to break through that door for days! We deserve that thing to fulfill our organization’s grand plan!“ said Tulip as Rose was trying her best to stop her from talking.

“Focus Tulip! Clear your mind!“

“YES! OUR GRAND PLAN OF… THE EARTH FLATTERS!” yelled Tulip, despite being vigorously shaken by the supposedly more clear minded Rose. 

Gunslinger and Even blinked.

“Auugh. Fine. We are working towards a future, where all planets are disk shaped, as it has always been intended.” grumbled Rose.

Our hero… Well. Heroes.  Our heroes understood why our handsome narrator was so distressed by the burglary attempt of these two.

“Our plan makes sense! Half of our homeworld is a desert, and half is a paradise! Therefore, it would be better off flat.” huffed Tulip.

“There are at least three existing disk words, and several asteroids. With all members pitching in enough magic, it could be feasible.” added Rose, as if it made sense.

“Ah. Members and pitching in. This sounds like a cult. Or a pyramid scheme.” said Even.

Gunslinger lifted his head. Oh? Cultists? He read many short fiction about them. Up to no good! They worship terrifying concepts and catch you in a net of obligations making you unwilling to leave! But they usually wore hoods. Maybe hoodies count?

The cultists were too focused on their incomprehensible agenda to listen to the very sensible narration. Almost like the elves, who did not listen to why their requests were not possible, no matter how many Power Crystals they hooked me up to. There is just no narrative justification for their wish to come true.

Gunslinger stepped in front of Even and the caged ooze, and took out his gun. He made a dramatic pose, and whistled as threateningly as he could. If they wanted this admittedly very rude and controlling ink blob, they would have to go through him. And what are they going to do, club him?

The cultists looked at each other, and pressed a button on their clubs, which unfolded to reveal energy guns. Even and Gunslinger quickly ducked behind the hourglass pillars, narrowly dodging the rock solid blobs of photons.

Selah. Just something the Lord has me pondering on this morning. To me it means to carefully ponder what you have just read and see how this word unfolds in your world. :: Selah is a word used in the bible in the book of Psalms. It’s often used as an interjection between significant portions of songs. It’s used many times. :: The “Pause, and calmly think on that.” comes from bracketed text following every occurrence of “Selah” in the Amplified translation of the bible.
