shane and ryan with a (platonic obvs) maybe like teen reader with autism
-bee
this is literally just me. you just described me. this isn't a request it's a call out
• Both of them are very accommodating
• I feel like each of them know to an extent that most of their audience is made up of neurodivergent people of all ages, so it doesn't faze them that much when you eventually tell them you're autistic
• But at the same time they'll get really concerned for you and some of the habits you have—like negative stims or meltdowns. Even when they don't need to be. Especially when they dont need to be. Maybe it's becuase you're way younger than either of them and they feel obligated to make sure you're doing alright, but Ryan and Shane can't help themselves
• "Hey dude. Why don't you stop doing that to yourself and use this toy instead? I found it at walmart, so it might not be the best but I remeber you using one of these the other day. Makes a little popping noise and all."
• A bit slow about it at first, not knowing if you actually need their litrle additions at all and they're just being weird, or genuinely helping
• But once you give them a thank you or they see you using a stim toy they got you, they'll fall into a more casual and joking routine
• Shane probably suggested letting you help on Puppet History instead of Ghost Files when it came down to things. Thought that the intense change in setting might freak you out when it came to filming in locations states away. At night. Hell it freakes Ryan out constantly, so he figured the former would be a better option. Plus you helped with some of the lore around it; hence some of the crazy ass decisions and lines you added in just to make you giggle (something Shane appreciated as well as the fans)
• Ryan one hundered percent sends you memes constantly, too. It's common knowledge both of them are aware of tumblr, and since this place is like a magnet when it comes to autism, he'd be really happy with himself when you respond to his texts with keyboard smashes and way too many exclamation points
• They keep a little collection of things like earplugs, fidgets, and bluetooth headphone for you around the office and other places too in the rare case you forget your own
• The boys definitely playfully bicker and pretend bribe you to become either a Shaniac or a Boogara. You have yet to actually tell them who you stand with since it's much funnier to see Ryan try and deflect all the jokes Shane makes at his expense surrounding his supernatural beliefs
↳ warnings: mentions of demons, ghosts, over all spooky stuff
↳ song: sweet dreams in sea major—miracle musical
masterlist!
• Shane leads an interesting life
• Er, afterlife, I suppose, considering he had only sprouted his black, fluffy wings after being plucked from the land of the living
• But I digress
• Besides—he was happy
• He had never been the kind of demon to engage in all that blood torture and acult shit anyways. Instead, he took pleasure in harmlessly scaring assholes or the occasion teenager that he would stumble upon durring the witching hour—although that was mostly code for a three am dunkin' doughnuts run
• "The munchies are a serious thing, Ryan. What can I say?" He had shrugged nonchalauntly once, grinning goofily down at his friend that had just been asking about the bags under his eyes—which resulted in tales of his midnight snack runs. You stood with your arms crossed not too far away, shaking your head slowly, but Shane could see the hint of a smile tugging at your lips
• "You really meet to get better sleep, dude. I'd hate to postpone filming for TMS, but you know I will if you aren't up to it. Doesn't mean that Steven won't give you hell for not letting him do his bit with Ricky though." Ryan had just sighed, rubbing at his own eyes as if the conversation itself had tired him out. But just like how Shane had noticed with you, he could see the ravenette resisting the urge to smile
• "I mean, insomnia is the first sign of possession after all. Can't have a supernatural being living inside of the company, our fans would give us hell." At last came his joke. It earned a snort from you, pleasing Ryan, whose eyes crinkled at the edges pleasantly
• Shane just grinned sharply
• If only you two knew
• That was another fun thing about his chosen predicament
• I mean, come on. A demon who's best friends with someone terrified of them? All the while pretending he doesn't believe anything of the sort? At this point, he should just up and leave for Juliard. A degree in acting was a shoe in for sure with how he had been living the past few years of his eternal damnation
• And it was all the more fun with you there as well, the yin to his and Ryan's yang. Always ready with just the right thing to say in the moment or a shitty pun you had heard the other day. Throw Steven in the mix and the four of you were thick as fucking theives
• There were some downsides though. With life (er, death?) there always was
• Ghost Files was one of the things Shane looked forward to the most at Watcher. Doing Buzzfeed Unsolved had been amazing, and even though he was an inhuman being that could crumble businesses with a flick of his pointed tail if he wanted to—demons did play a part in evil corporations after all—it felt liberating to build Watcher from the ground up with Ryan, Steven, and you.
• Plus, there was the added bonus of more shows now—one of which included puppets. He particularly enjoyed that one
• But Ghost Files was the crowned jewel. The one thing everyone—crew, audience, staff, even cameramen—looked forward to
• What can I say. Old habits die hard—and most of these people had been doing Buzzfeed Unsolved since they could properly hold a mic. It felt good to do something familiar
• And that's what it had been like for Shane. He was excited, no, downright giddy, to be back in the element of ghosts and ghouls
• It was fun to watch you and Ryan skirt around an entirely ghost free house, nerves on end as the two of you jumped every little noise. Most of which Shane made
• That's not to say that the three of you didn't find haunted places. Oh no. You most certainly did. The Sally House was the most memorable of them
• That demon really had been ready to kill Ryan and you that night. Right on the pentagram in the basement. But Shane had been able to coax (read: threaten) it into not doing anything but flash a flashlight once or twice
• But sometimes, his true form wasn't enough to spook off the spooks, so to say. It was rare, but occasionally some brave, or incredibly stupid, ghosts would try their luck at laying a hand on you or Ryan
• That got them a one way ticket to the second death they would ever have the pleasure of experiencing. The one delt out by Shane being arguably worse than anything that happened in their mortal lifetime
• He cared for his people. It was as simple as that. So what if that made him unethical as a demon. He played around with hand puppets half the time for fucks sake and he enjoyed it. He was far from an ethical demon at this point, and he was fine with that
• Didn't mean that having to ward off spirits didn't put him into a bad mood though
• Shane would probably never admit it, but the idea of something hurting you two while he wasn't there to protect you left a taste as bad as brimstone in his mouth
• "Shane? Dude, you're looking pale. Well paler than usual." You had stopped in the middle of filming once to comment on his appearance, trying to hide the way you sucked at your cheeks with anxiety. "Don't tell me you've finally cracked and begun to get scared by all this."
• Ryan had smiled at your joke. But the smile slowly slid off his face as he took another look at Shane, who was not laughing in the slightest
• "That Taco Bell we ate earlier didn't settle well, that's all." Shane's excuse was flimsy, but he couldn't care less right then. He just wanted to stay as close to you two and the crew as possible in case another spirit tried anything
• "Alright. But if you need to say the word and we can take a break." You said steadily, jabbing Ryan in the gut playfuly when he didn't automatically back you up
• "Yeah! Yeah, what they said. And jeez you didn't have to hit me so hard. Asshole—"
• "Oh you wanna go Bergara?" You had laughed, comically winding your arm up like Popeye used to do in the cartoons. Ryan scoffed, donning his Ricky Goldsworth voice as he began to fake fight with you
• The sight was enough to bring a small smile to Shane's face. The two of you always managed to do that
• "Nerds." He chuckled, bad mood already begining to lift a little
• "Loser." Both you and Ryan threw back the insult at the same time, laughing all the while
—Getting called up to be a stand in mic operator was something they were used to. Being a stand in that is. But working on the most popular show at Buzzfeed all about the supernatural proves for an interesting experience. In more ways than one.

It would have been nice to get a heads up.
I mean, (Y/n) was used to random calls durring spotty times in the day. To come be a stand in for this that or the other was their job after all. The sole purpose of their jobs contract was to litteraly be a substitute for whatever called. They'd been on sets as things from a water boy to just a cam guy and still got paid the same.
But this was a little out of the blue. Being called up at four in the morning (read again: four in the goddamn morning) for an emergency job to some fucking—mental, obscure, supposedly haunted, insane assylum in the middle of the country? Just to film?
Still, who were they to deny working along side the most popular show at the office right now. Anyone would be lying if they didn't say that Buzzfeed Unsolved was carrying the corporation at this point. Aside from the Try Guys that is.
Personally (Y/n) saw why they, they being the fans and people who tuned in, thought that way. In fact, in one of the earlier instances of their start for working at Buzzfeed, they had been on one of the first ever filmings for that show and had met Ryan Bergara before—allowing them to see why such a large amount of people had taken a liking to him. Ryan was a kind fellow, if a bit of a wimp when it came to interacting or even thinking about interacting, with spirits—along with some other guy that would sit by his side. All they had remembered was that he had a beard and redish-brown hair. And that he had quit the show a few episodes in opting for a replacement, not finding it that much his style.
Of course, (Y/n) being (Y/n), had to try and remember all this on the drive towards the sets location. It had been a year or two since that initial interaction after all, and they tended to not do their reasearch. Classic.
Aching feet touched a gravely asphalt road as they stepped out of their car with an almost inaudible groan, still stretching the exhaustion out of their bones from this mornings quite litteral wake up call. They would have to either set their phone on silent next time, or be prepared to cuss out anyone who's not their boss on the other end. Emphasis on the not their boss part.
Still, they rubbed their eyes while walking up to a hotel in front of them. It was nothing they hadn't seen before when traveling for work. Just a small, cream colored thing that was probably on its last limb, jumping paycheck to paycheck just to tie up loose ends if they had to guess.
They had been given directions via email this morning to meet up with Ryan before any shooting had begun. The team had wanted (Y/n) to know what was going on before just diving headfirst into an episode riddled with spirits and dumbassery.
Yeah. Probably a good decision. It was too early in the morning for any dumbassery.
All the same, they found themself in front of two rooms with faux gold numbers on them, the sickly yellow paint chipping from some corners. Both presumably Ryan and another guys room, Shane, they belived, based on the message that had popped up in their inbox.
Jeez (Y/n) hoped they weren't secretly a pair of giant assholes.
A quick knock on the peeling doors gave way to one, then two, swinging open with their respective residents quickly assessing their summoner.
It took Ryan a second, standing bleary eyed and disheviled in his rooms doorway, but eventually his eyes lit up.
"Oh hey! I remember you! Corporate told me we'd be getting a stand in for Jake." A friendly smile blossomed on his face, bringing his almond shaped eyes into a squint with the effort.
(Y/n) just nodded at him with a slow grin, choosing to assume Jake was the mic guy they'd be standing in for durring filming. They took note of the way Ryan spoke with a mix of polite professionalism and genuine joy, finding it a nice change of pace from the dry orders and comments they normally received at work.
This guy on the other hand—
"Ohh so you're the jack of all trades!" Somebody else had entered the scene durring the brief exchange between Ryan and (Y/n). A very tall somebody, practically reaching the tippy top of his hotel doorframe.
From in his own private domicile, Ryan shot Shane a look of disbelief and disappointment. But (Y/n) had to resist the urge to snort out loud.
It was funny to say the least, to have this random guy that looked more like a homeless dude crossed with a stereotypical white dad, call them the Jack Of All Trades at eight in the morning with the stupidest smile they had ever seen from someone.
Goddamn he was one goofy motherfucker.
“Really, man? Everytime. I swear—” Ryan sighed, but his face lit up again when he looked back over at (Y/n).
“So! Basically I’ve heard that this place well be heading out to is pretty haunted. Have been doing a lot of research this past week about it, so I dragged my buddy Shane all the way out here to investigate with me!” He said, basically bouncing on his heels with far too much excitement for the early morning hour. The person across from him nodded, casually admiting they knew how the show worked from the snippets they had seen.
“You’ll be hanging out with us all night, er, day I guess, trying to get some sleep. So be prepared for a lot of headaches. Little miss ghost hunter got plenty of sleep on the way here so he's ready and rearing to go.” Shane sighed, motioning his head towards Ryan. Ryan pretended not to notice, opening his door up wider.
“Here, you can get your stuff set up in here!” Thanking him, they stepped in. It was a bit new to say the least, staying in another person's room less than five minutes after meeting them, but worse had happened to them. And besides, less than average budgets were often used on shows that required a lot of traveling, like this one.
Once entering the small hotel room (Y/n) realized there was a door connecting the two boy’s rooms. They also noticed a large pile of various mic stuff in the far side of the room, conveniently placed on top of what they assumed would be their bed. Suppose somebody had thought it was best to think ahead.
Whilst sitting on the ground in a kindergarden remanicent criss cross applesauce pose, their fingers would halt every now and then from untangling wires. A feeling of something pricking the back of their neck would alert then of an unsettling feeling. Almost like they were being watched.
Yet every time their neck straightened itself up to look around and search for the source, nothing was found. Ryan was just laying on the bed typing on his phone, assumedly working last minute on the script for the video.
It was unnerving to say the least.
Shane eventually came into the room through the shared door, and gave them the same carefree smile.
Something about it felt—off to say the least. But they wouldnt be able to describe why even if you asked them.
He sat next to Ryan, and they started quietly talking about the plans for the video. (Y/n) turned back to the mess of technology, finally getting everything untangled and set up; and eventually stood up to walk over to the boys.
They met Shane’s eyes, and the pair glowed a soft red. Like a cars backlights in an early morning fog.
(Y/n) inhaled sharply and paused. They itched to rub at their eyes as if cleaning them off to make sure what they had seen was correct. But by the time they had blinked, the light hue was gone as quick as it had came.
"You alright?" Their gaze flitted to Ryan, his question taking a second to penitrate their brain.
"Yeah. Yeah no I'm okay sorry."
"Alright." Ryan hesitated. "Hey, could you come proof read something for me? I need to make sure you're okay with it before shooting."
Even while (Y/n) walked over to the side of the bed, that feeling of being watched didn't go away.
They had the feeling it wouldn't for as long as they were on this trip.
"And cut!"
(Y/n) finally lifted the mic they had been so graciously lugging around for the last three hours off their shoulder, an ache flooding their arm—! sure sign of a big bruise to come tomorrow morning. Compared to how disheveled Ryan looked just then though, and how he had been looking throught the entirety of filming, they would be okay.
"Great job. Really everyone. Absolutely amazing. Now can we please get the fuck out of here?" Ryan was still pointing his flash light every which way despite the cameras being off. "I swore I saw something a couple minutes back and I'd rather not end up with my insides on the outside."
"Yeah yeah whatever you big baby." Shane teased his friend while walking towards the exit, Ryan in the lead with everyone following in the pairs footsteps.
The trip out to the assylum hadn't taken long. Apparently Buzzfeed had taken the courtesy of booking the place out for the night so that way it would be devoid of tours full of spirit obsessed family's. (Y/n) hadn't been able to decide if they felt like that was a good thing or not. One the one hand shooting was ten times easier without mics picking up screaming children in the back ground. But on the other hand as Ryan pointed out, if they died no one would find them for at least a day. Fun. But at least now all they had to do was make the treck back to the vans. Nothing more.
"So (Y/n), what'd you think of your first time on set with the infamous ghoul boys?" Shane asked only after flagging the mic operator over to his side. His eyes scowered their face with a curious look. Like he was expecting a certain response.
"Technically it was my second time filming." Ryan nervously backed up that statement with a nod, still on edge. Shane just outwardly laughed at that. "And it was okay. Honestly the prospect of ghosts and stuff doesn't scare me, but I'd rather not stick around any longer." They shrugged.
"And I wouldn't call you guys 'infamous'." They accentuated their words with air quotes and a playful smile. "I don't really see any other ghost hunters names being tossed around as much as I see you two's."
"Please don't call us that. I prefer to think of myself as someone who gets paid to deal with Ryans bullshit." Shane playfully groaned, fidgeting with his ridiculous looking camera vest. Ryan just shot a panicky glare at him out of the corner of his eye sarcastically laughing.
The rest of the walk through the winding hallways—had it been this tedious of a path on the way in? Certantly didn't seem like it—was filled with the idle conversation between (Y/n) and Shane, Ryan occasionally joining in to keep his mind off things.
"Yeah I just think tha—"
Darkness fell over everyone in one fatal swoop, words respectively dying in everyone ls throats for a moment. More suprise than anything.
"Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck!" Was what broke the silence. (Y/n) heard what they guessed to be Ryan cussing rapidly while hitting the side of his flashlight in hopes of turning it back on.
"Hey come on. It's not that big of a deal. We can find the rest of our way back with the go pros." (Y/n) attempted to soothe Ryan. When they turned to look at the big black blob next to them who they hoped was Shane, all they got in response was a simple claim that the cameras had fritzed out.
"Fuck!!"
"Calm down Ryan. If we die I'll give you my inheritance what about that."
"That not how that works dumbass!"
While Shane attempted to curb his shorter friends anxious shouts and groans, (Y/n) couldn't help but notice how relaxed he seemed. Yes, they knew that Shane didn't belive in spirits. Yes, they were well aware he had carelessly asked said spirits to muder him if they weren't too pussy multiple times. But they had to admit even they were a little spooked. And his attitude made no sense. It made them think of the weird thing that they had seen in his eyes back at the hotel. Or at least what they thought they saw.
"Come on. Let's bounce."
"Please don't say that." Ryan whined. Yet he still headed for the nearest exit, a pair of barely visible double doors.
(Y/n) went to silently follow before a small wisper made them freeze.
(Y/n).
Whipping around quickly, they had to resist the urge to hold the long mic out like a jousting weapon. Even in the pitch black it was better safe than sorry.
They hardly even heard the call of their name come.
"Hey. You coming?"
They snapped out of it to look at the source of the voice, seeing Shane a few yards down holding a pair of double doors open, the moon from the sky outside lighting up his lanky figure.
His shadow was even darker than the surroundings. Stretching across the barren hallway and consuming everything. Horns and wings protruded from his ba—
Wait. Horns and wings?
(Y/n) swallowed thickly and blinked. And it was gone.
"What planning on staying the night?" Shane goaded them again when they offered no reponse. But his smile held a silent message. An amused one. Granted none of any malicious intent, just like he knew something no one else did.
They mummbled a wide eyed no back in his direction. Shuffling down and out of the building and past Shane took a lot more nerves than they cared to admit, hairs standing up on the nape of their neck for seemingly no reason.
•Shane loves to scare the both of you. On and off camera. And especially when exploring haunted locations (or "supposedly haunted" as he would say)
•Purposfuly sneaks up behind you when your not looking and just stands there silently, grinning ghoulishly while waiting for you to turn around
•More often than not you can tell when Ryan's the one he goes after. It's kind of hard to miss that girlish scream followed by a joyful cackle anyways
•Staying on track with the whole scare/prank thing, occasionally you and Ryan will get your revenge on the lanky legged man
•The little shit—being Shane—tends to fall asleep at the office sometimes. And by sometimes I mean quite a lot. He's woken up with sticky notes plastered onto his face more times than not
•You and Ryan had the fun idea to draw on his face with sharpies once, only getting as far as drawing two balls and half of a dick on his face before he woke up
•That was fun. Getting a stapler thrown at your torso, not so much
•The night Shane decided to dye his hair, Sarah had sent you both a picture of him at three am with tinfoil on his head (not so coincidentally forgetting to mention the important context that he had decided to dye it) with the caption "said he believes in aliens now"
•Then she calmly turned off her phone, set it down, and walked off giggling
•"Sarah why did Ryan and (Y/n) change my name in the group chat to liar in all caps."
•All of you definitely have different types of music taste. Shane most likely likes country music, while Ryan seems more like a pop kind of guy. Both of them have taken the liberty of playing the role of a karaoke bar on long road trips to filming locations. Much to your chagrin
•"WHY DONT YOU SAY SO. DIDNT EVEN NOTICE—"
•"Ryan if you sing one more Doja Cat song I'm going to throw myself out of this moving vehicle."
•"Let the man have his fun (Y/n)."
•"Oh dont even. Don't think I can't see those earplugs Shane. You're not slick.
I was wondering if you could do some demon!shane being protective over ryan and reader? perhaps with some hurt/comfort thrown in there? I'd love to read it! thanks for writing amazing content, cant wait to read more! <3
I got so happy seeing this request!!! I love the prospect of Shane as a big goofball that also happens to be demonic <3
Edit: this got longer than I was expecting dbsnf
It was ready to kill again.
The spirit had grown restless, almost chaotically so, upon sensing soft foot falls entering its domain. Their bubbly auras pierced through the fog of the afterlife. Opening way to the living world that the evil entity hadn't had access to in a while. For the longest time, the only memory it had of anything beyond white mist was murdering two people while being begged to stop. A mother and father perhaps? It's mother and father?
But oh if that familiar feeling, the rush to commit such unspeakable acts. If it wasn't the most alive feeling it had ever had since—well—dying. People didn't come around often. And if they did, it was only to rest just on the outskirts of the abandoned farmhouse infamous for its double murder. So close but always out of reach. And now? To be rewarded with a hoard of brightly shining people ready for what looked like a long stay?
The spirit could hardly keep itself from phasing right through the floor.
The brightest colors of the group were three people; the radiant of them being a powerful white and purple. They had both been the ones to enter the premises first, followed by people with strange looking metal boxes the violent ghost felt an urge to avoid.
Joy and fear flowed through their pale figure upon getting anywhere near the purple one, the man it emitted from conveying these exact emotions with a nervous tirade of laughter. The ghost cared not for the physical appearance of him, only ever acknowledging them to grow envious at its own lack of one.
Fast paced words flowed from the white one that walked next to the purple man. Words it couldn't understand and certainly didn't care to.
Their color felt more relaxed; excited to be there almost. Expecting. A certain buzzy feeling had jittered the dead spirit with the other one, but those vibrations had dissapeared upon floating closer to the other. It would have frowned if it remembered how to.
Reaching a white wispy claw out, it went to puncture the aura. To make their soul bleed and leak from a place outside the living world. Just as it had once allowed its own family to.
A finger tip had barely touched the bright white light before it felt its very existence start to burn abd writhe with a passion only next to the very fires of hell itself. Like every cell in their form had contorted into the most painful position ever imaginable.
No matter how much it wanted to open its maw and let out a howl worthy of bringing even the bravest men to tears, it couldn't. All it could do was barely make out the boom of a voice resonating in its thoughts. Accompanied by the redest of red lights burning its retinas away into dust.
"Be gone."
And it listened.
"Jesus! Did you feel that (Y/n)? I just got really hot all of a sudden." A voice shrieked, the sound of something dropping before being swooped back up again.
"Nah you still look pretty ugly to me." Someone responded to them with a snicker.
"Shut the fuck up. And you know what I meant!" Ryan hissed.
His eyes were blown wide, looking around frantically while whispering at the cameraman if they got that. (Y/n) was just staring at him with an amused smile, laughing.
Both of them were sporting matching jackets with patches of a logo with a ghost on the side. A bright orange beanie covered some raven curls on Ryan's head, a seperate one tucked in between the side and arm of (Y/n).
"Don't laugh! You can't tell me you didn't feel that!"
(Y/n) simply patted their companion on the shoulder, reassuring him with a teasing smile that they knew better to try and hide. All it got them in return was a punch in the shoulder and more frantic ramblings about spirits.
"Yeah yeah—Hey Shane! Get over here and help me calm down the scaredy cat!"
Ryan trailed off into a soft moment of playground level insults with his fellow ghost hunter. The both of them were so wrapped up in each other and their pitiful jabs at each other they didn't even notice the quiet figure that had since walked over to them.
"Help me out here buddy! Tell (Y/n) that—" But Ryan paused the moment he set eyes on Shane's face. "Woah. Hey what's wrong."
(Y/n) turned to look past their shoulder at Shane, immediately understanding what Ryan meant.
Shane's lips were downturned in such a powerful scowl it made his brows scrunch up. The pair of sun glasses he had been wearing at night for some bit were now no where to be seen, the ferocity of his gaze set on a wall behind (Y/n) and Ryan's heads. He looked like that weird saying. Who pissed in your cheerios or whatever it was. Sayings aside, something clearly was not okay with the tall man.
"Nothing." He mummbled, clearly lying. "Just don't like this place. Bad vibes."
"Right. Says you, the non beliver." Ryan laughed, but there was some concern behind it. He had never seen Shane get like this before. It was new to say the least. He wasn't even this grumpy after using the spirit box.
Shane sighed. "Look. I just—I just don't think we should stay here longer than normal. I'm not feeling like it tonight." He rubbed a hand down his face. (Y/n) noted that he didn't seem tired. Quite the opposite. Just, pissed.
"I get that." They nodded quickly. "If you'd like we could go back and film the rest of this tomorrow or something and fix it in editing. We've done it before a couple times. And hey, at least now we don't have to let anyone know we're gonna be a day late filming. We own the company after all."
Shane hesitantly nodded, agreeing with the compromise. Ryan took that as a sign to start helping the camera crew lug equipment out of there. (Y/n) wasn't too far behind with a smack on the back and enough positive energy to go around.
But Shane lingered, hands clenching and un-clentching in what might've seemed an anxious move to the untrained eye. It wasn't until he couldn't hear the shuffling of his friends feet anymore that he broke the facade.
"Stay the hell away from them." He frowned deeply, dark leathery wings elongating to their full span. It appeared that he spoke to nothing but air, but the demon knew better. "Or I'll personally make sure you bastards end up in the worst circle of hell."
"Hey! Grumpy pants! You coming?" (Y/n)'s voice resonated through the hallways of the structure, reminding Shane he had somewhere else to be. His horns and red eyes quickly dismissed in favor of his typical appearance. One he quite enjoyed.
"Yeah! I'll be right there!"
With one last flip of his middle finger and a gloating smile, Shane turned to jog off in the direction of his friends, happy they wouldn't be messed with for a while.
Pleaaasse write Shane with insomniac reader pls and thank youuuu
(eat drink some water get some sleep💋)
I HAPPY STIMMED FOR LIKE A SOLID THREE MINUTES UPON SEEING THIS. SO HAPPY MY MAIN TWO HYPERFIXATIONS OF AHS AND GHOST FILES IS GETTING ATTENTION TOO
It was nearly one in the morning when Shane woke up to the floor next to him empty.
He was more than aware of you and Ryan's habit of getting spooked when staying overnight in a "haunted" place for some video. It was kind of hard not to be after all, with now much nervous small talk the two of you would engage in to keep your minds occupied. Thankfully he had gotten used to tuning that out over the years, otherwise any attempt at sleep would be fruitless.
But while Ryan tended to sit in one place and worry, Shane had found out over the course of various seasons that you preffered to get up and walk around. Often resulting in a stubbed toe or bruised kneecap nonetheless; but it was a nervous habit of yours that couldn't be tamed.
So the tall man allowed his body to roll over sluggishly, lifting himself out of a bright orange sleeping back to stretch his cramped legs.
It hadn't taken long, no more than two or three strides of his long legs, to find you standing outside the door to the broken and beaten up room they set up camp in, leaning against the doorframe and biting your nails.
"You should really go back to bed." Shane smiled lightly, looking down as you jumped at the new presence next to you.
"Says you." You mumbled back, leaning into the hand he just placed on your shoulder. "You sound half asleep yourself, Shane."
"And you look like the dead. No pun intended." He added on the last part while looking around the old building. He was pleasantly surprised to receive a tired laugh from you in return.
"If you come back to bed I'll tell you about what happened to me and Ryan the other night untill you fall asleep."
The bribe was too good to say no too, knowing how Shane's voice always managed to lull you into a dormant state—or just the man himself come to think of it. No matter how anxiety inducing your surroundings were he always had the right energy to calm you down, ranging from calm and understanding to batshit crazy.
"Alright." You sighed with the beginings of walking into the room and making a beeline to your sleeping bag. "But if I don't end up sleeping, I'm just going to pester you all night mister."
"I don't think we'll have a problem with that."
Sure enough, no more than fifteen minutes later he had stopped the tale of how he and Ryan nearly missed one of their flights to look at your sleeping face.
A slight smile made its way to his own as he laid back down once more, eyelids closing with the thought of you being the last thing to cross his mind.
Sorry if I’m sending a lot of asks, I just love to interact with writers and blogs in here :D
Do you have any thoughts on what demon!Shane would be like in other demonic locations? Like, can he actually talk to other demons? (the nuns actually talking to him = chaos)
And how would the reader react to the fact he’s a demon? Does Ryan know?
People don’t write enough ab ghost files in this world 😔
(And I love the demon Shane thing, as you can see, lol)
ANYWAYS, HAVE A GOOD DAY FAV WRITER <33

I'm actually I'm the progress of writing a demon shane one shot right now! Have been for a while. And I'm glad to hear I'm one of your favorite writers :))
Shane really would like to keep the fact he's from hell a secret
Being sent to kill the two of you for meddling in things you didn't understand was simple enough. But getting attached to the two of you? Not on his list
Not that he minds. Shane enjoys playing the part of the human best friend for the two of you. Enjoys it, rather. He can't remember the last time any humans successfully captivated him like this. Not like anyone from hell could stop him, seeing as he was the most powerful entity. Only second to Lucifer himself
And it was your careers that made it all the more fun to tag along
I mean, come on, ghost hunters?
He had a blast, and not just because it was funny to see you two jumping at random noises when all the ghosts were halfway across the building
Shane found himself growing fonder and fonder of the each of you with every passing day
That's why he likes to keep his horns and leathery wings a secret. Just for now
But they did come in handy when you and Ryan would occasionally come across a truly evil spirit. He would simply excuse himself then to threaten the ghost(s)
Intends on staying friends with you lot for as long as he can after all. Can't have you being killed by some angry nuns now could he?
