I seem to have a ghost message in my inbox.
It had been quite some time, but today, he really felt the need to send this. Waiting for Angela was a bundle of coriander and a blue rose tied together with a red ribbon. There was also a mix tape with songs that he knew she would understand. Their songs. All that had faded away some time ago, but the memory still remained. Along with that was an envelope that contained a recipe for delicious paninis and a note that read:
Hey, hope you’re doing well. In case you’re wondering, that’s coriander for sentimental value. Like someone once said, ‘Google is your friend.’ And to be sappy, a blue rose. You…should know why.
If you ever find yourself sad, make some paninis using that awesome recipe and listen to that mix tape.

It was like a ghost had come to haunt her, today of all days. She dropped the note onto the floor, almost as if it had burned her hand when she realized who it was from. It had been years since she heard from him. Since she left high school.
Her guilt pierced her chest like a gunshot.
She remembered. She remembered everything. It was one of her worst regrets. One of very few that could send her into such a bad state. Her hands were shaking and she fought back tears, mourning the boy she knew, and the man he had grown up to be.
Still hurting, thanks to her.
Part of her knew, if she ever saw him again she would apologize for all the damage. Tell him that he deserved better, someone who could love him properly. Tell him she was finally happy, and that he deserved the same.
With a sigh, Angela put the recipe away and popped the mixtape in. Maybe one more indulgence into the past wouldn’t hurt.
