(apologies to @yugo-possum, @30-fucking-boiled-potatoes, @thegreatspheal for your characters being included in this. Don't worry, nothing happens to them, it's just the uh... The nightmare part you gotta brace yourself for. If any of you want this post removed, please let me know as soon as possible.)
(Reminder that the au is dark in some ways, most of the awful stuff written out are either vivid nightmares or hallucinations)
"Good afternoon Pac-Opolis, this is Victoria Secras with some very shocking news that was thankfully provided by our city's second savior, who at this moment will still have his name remain anonymous to the public until further notice."
"If you were with us the last month or two, again a reminder to parents and guardians around the city to remove any children from the room as this is spoken, the star kicker; Skeebax Loverman Borealis of Dire P. Mazehedge High School was found dead in the dormitory building inside of his assigned room. Police officials and detectives concluded the cause of death was by s**cide unless other evidence is found and looked through."
"The principal, Mr. Tarrow Roundwright, along with various staff members and school faculty arranged with the district to finally name the football field after the unfortunate student as a way to pay their respects to the family and friends affected by this death. While online speculation and discourse took place after this decision wondering if this would be a good choice in regards to the 16 year old teenager, two of Skeebax's coaches responded that it was one of the only options they were offered to have something to remember the boy by, the passion and love for his team."
"Although the majority of close allies and supporters of the Loverman company are doing most of the work to help the company owner and his family cope with the loss, there has been an overwhelming amount of evidence that the boy could potentially still be alive. Or as alive as he can be."
"Earlier this week, stores, food joints, libraries, and malls across the city have been reporting mysterious break-ins that resulted in some of their inventory to be stolen, but never money. Instead, when one of the crafts and supplies stores checked their register stands and self checkout areas, they often found cash placed inside to replace the stolen item."
"Yesterday night in North Pac-Opolis's square, there have been cases of vandalism and graffiti painted all across the pavement that surrounded the Peace fountain, the paint never touching the fountain once. When helicopters flew overhead the square this morning, they distributed many pictures of what seemed to be a major art piece that had the fountain as a pupil of an eye."
"Why is this important? One of the officers who flew overhead stated that the art piece was almost an exact replica of a painting Skeebax had finished and placed into the school art competition to represent Mazehedge High School. To protect his own son, the officer decided to not give out his name, but he was there to notice the similarities between the two art projects."
"Across the city there have been findings of ghost slime that eerily were similar to the physical appearance of the passed 16 year old, but most importantly and the most concerning, multiple graveyard managers throughout the state and country had called local authorities about mysterious disappearances of the deceased they held. A graveyard owner has alerted authorities that the grave that held the teen underneath the earth was dug up, and the coffin remained open with no trace of the body left inside."
"Other bodies had been going missing, and detectives cannot understand how or why."
"A multitude of the students at Mazehedge had also suffered from these strange events that took place. Hall monitors spoke to the district administration that their student population was not doing well under these circumstances. Cases of restlessness, exhaustion, paranoia, nausea, sleep deprivation, vivid hallucinations, bipolar switch ups faster than considered normal, hostile and agitated breakdowns, and signs leading into mental instability were listed among the hundreds of students that walked into the nurse's office and had a professional diagnosis from a doctor."
"According to the second city's hero, our first is unfortunately going through something similar like the rest of these students, and he was the first to notice that the slime spottings mentioned earlier had begun to take place inside the school."
"One student claimed that he saw the teenager walking the halls during a spiralling breakdown before being dragged away with school security."
"With these incidents and reports, there has been talk that perhaps the teenager had come back from the dead and haunts the school as a physical ghost like our current enemies, a non-physical spirit as another option. Some believe that he never died at all and that it was an act to the public. Regardless of what we think, if the boy is now trapped with the other ghouls down there in the fiery pits of the Nether, we should pray that he moves on soon, if not, let him have a peaceful afterlife."
"If you notice any suspicious activity, please don't be afraid to call government officials or your local police station-"
Spiral shut the TV off, letting out a tensioned sigh and rubbing his eyes, his two pals, the President, Sir Cumference, the personal bodyguards standing by the entrance, and the two new guys all sitting in the Round House office with clear amounts of stress on their faces.
The eldest of the two new members of Team Pac stood up after noticing the yellow one fiddle with his shaky hands, and very softly, told him to stay put, leaving the office to retrieve something.
The president only groaned. "I thought I made it clear that we don't make this information public knowledge, so forgive me if I'm confused on why one of the most stubborn reporters in the nation got ahold of so much information."
Another yellow one, a much shorter and visibly younger one at that, shrunk in on himself, knowingly avoiding the pointed stare going his way.
Sir C was having none of it however. "Stratos, can it. The kid is still new, he's not automatically going to be okay under pressure."
"Regardless if he is a child or not, if I say there are words not to be discussed outside of this office or in the room for the Tree of Life, they should and WILL not be discussed outside. It shouldn't be that difficult to follow an order, a presidential order to be specific."
Cylindria glared at the president and spoke up, blocking the view from the technically youngest(?) one in the room. "You heard Sir C, he said to zip it! I get that we might give it to the wrong people if we're not careful, but I think other people should be knowing about this stuff. The more help, the better. It might give us better leads to what we're looking for."
Spiral nodded. "At the same time, we're not going to just brush this aside, okay? You might not care about him, but that's still the body of our classmate that's missing. And who knows, maybe those people are right, he could still be here."
The mage sighed, his voice muffled by his scarf. "He could be, and that's a little worrying. If... If this 'Skeebax' is alive, not truly living but still has a physical form and mind, and he is down there, we have to make it look like he isn't."
Both teenagers looked at the mage, shock written across their faces.
"Betrayus watches the news." Pac said numbly as he grabbed everyone's attention. "I don't like the fact this is public cause there's a chance he could've seen it.. and knowing him, he would try to find out if Skeebs is down there just to use him."
Sir C sighed and shut his eyes. "Have you heard anything from our ghost friends yet?"
"They only come out just to warn us now, nothing else really."
"They're hiding something... I'm hoping it's for an honorable reason, or I'll have to break off from our deal." Stratos stood up from his place and looked out the window, watching over the world that he owned from behind the glass.
And that sentence made Pac a little irritated. "They don't want their bodies back anymore, they just want to leave. For good. And if they're hiding something, they don't have to tell us."
"Pac, what if it's something crucial? What if it's something that we should know before we make any big choices?" The pink Pac-Worlder spoke her perspective, knowing that it probably wouldn't matter in the end.
"Anything we should know, they would tell us as soon as they can. If they can't, I'm not going to pressure them, and I don't want any of you guys to do it either." The world's golden child curled in on himself, hugging his knees and keeping his gaze downward. "They already risk a lot just to get out and not be caught, they don't need to do extra work if they can't get paid for it."
The other ghost muncher came running in, frantic and out of breath as he tried to catch his breath. The guards by the door immediately got into position to neutralize anything down the hallways.
"Guys! I found his body, but you're not going to like where I found it!"
The other three saviors and the mage all raced out the office with the last of the group trailing behind them, the senior freedom fighters left behind paralyzed as they processed what they just heard.
As they ran down the hallways and followed the second ghost muncher around the Round House, they all paused as they entered the grand room that held the Tree of Life.
And he was correct.
The lifeless corpse of Skeebax Loverman, that was still in the clothes that he wore at the funeral, was hanging by his arms that were attached to the branches of the great tree. His eyes were opened and reddened, and his mouth was stuffed with pieces of dried up coral pulled fresh from a reef. He was wet, dripping water as if someone threw him in the ocean before bringing his body here.
And unfortunately, he was not the only one there.
Above him, inside of the leaves, hung more of the missing bodies, all somehow preserved as if the time they spent in the ground did nothing to them. Very quickly they recognized which body belonged to who, as most of them all belonged to people that recently died from events where the heroes failed to save them from one of Betrayus's plans or the President's own selfishness.
The thing that they all realized very soon, was that there were footprints on the ground filled with mud, soot, and dirt. The smell was horrific, but no one could pay attention to it as the sight before them seemed to strike them in grief and pain.
Pac could hear whispering all around him, his focus completely on his dead peer as he felt the room getting hard to breathe, his ears rang as the whispers got louder and louder.
He heard Spheal shout his name but he couldn't hear him.
Then as if the body could taste his fear, the lights flickered in place, and the main attraction to this sick prank began to move in jerking motions, muffled screeching and cries blocked out by the coral in its throat.
Its eyes bled as it pulled and tugged at the ropes that tied it to the tree, breaking one of its hands free, and reaching out to the yellow one.
It let out the loudest scream it could, the coral leaking rotten blood and tearing the ends of its mouth.
Pac woke up in a panic, cold sweat drenching his body as he frantically got out of bed and turned on the light switch as quickly as he could, hanging onto the lamp for dear life as he panted and brought himself back to reality.
He looked back at the clock on the desk. 1:00 am. The dreaming charm laid on top of it with its strings acting with gravity, the title it had not been earned in the slightest. Then again, it was Cylindria's idea.
He sniffled and slid back to the ground in defeat, and after letting out a choked hiccup, he let himself cry on the dorm floor, hugging himself and clenching sleeve fabric in his gloved hands.
Unaware there was a blue ghost watching him from the window in sorrow.
Ts happens probably right after what I'm currently writing rn. 💔
(my inkblink people jingle jingle, jingle jingle)
Ngl looking at Skeebo's character, I think him and Inky are most likely able to get along better than him with rest of the gang. That's why I'm even writing this in the first place.
Just a heads up!!!! Update to previous announcement!!!
We have about... *Counts on my fingers*
8 people!!!! Who have submitted their oc's to be a part of Sirened AU, I don't know how many people I am going to limit but for right now I would say 14 is the max!
Also I forgot to edit the original post, to all my self shippers, oc x canon, or self inserts people, you can participate! However, I can only limit around one person to be in the au for shipping reasons because I have a couple of friends who are not comfortable sharing f/O's :(
For example:
Betrayus: Listen, I know A LOT OF YOU love him, but again, non-sharing self shippers are a thing and if those people are not comfortable seeing him with anyone else, they are allowed to not look at any Sirened AU posts if it contains him showing attraction to someone else. (I will warn about it beforehand)
I can only limit one person (oc, self insert, etc.) to be with him.
Specter: He was originally going to be paired with Eduardo Diaz Collazo or Queen Marina (you can search for them on my blog) but if anyone wants to be with him in this universe, I will make the change!
Skeebo: I will not be changing his partner in this universe as Cisco takes a huge part in the au's lore, but also because any other oc I know of/have would probably not be healthy in this situation. He is still technically recovering from the fact that he has died and CAME BACK. He needs someone familiar with ghost life and the Netherworld so he doesn't go insane.
Pac: He's already taken (coughs. Pyralis. Cough.)
Dr. Buttocks: I am willing to change his partner because idfk what to do with them.
Keep in mind that I still need to know the oc's backstory and what would YOU prefer for them to be in the timeline.
That should be all for now, I am still making the doodle page and I will @ the creators of the OC that is in the page. (If they are not on Tumblr, I will list their other social)
Well, I think is my first ask about this AU so... If somenone tries to attack Ske- Sorry, Siren.
How dead would that person be?
It depends on the person who's attacking him. If it's any of the hero trio, he probably wouldn't fight back, if it's a stranger or someone he doesn't know well, he'd only fight back a little.
If you were someone like Obtuse?
It'll take a while for someone to find all the body parts.
