it’s a $60 game that I’ve spent more than 130 hours on and STILL have plenty of shit to do. Like I get being disappointed about having to wait for content but arguing that this game doesn’t feel worth the cost feels so off-mark to me

animal crossing by nature is meant to be played by a long period of time, ive spent hundreds of hours in every single one and until now every single entry (except city folk) adds more and more to the game while still retaining old features

new horizons is the first one where i’ve seen they literally yanked things that have always been there (holidays, the cafe, gyroids, online tours) and readding them treating them as ‘new updates’, i don’t understand what is so hard to get about this

The new netflix cartoon Hilda has a bird character with a weird man-mouth, but in a very different way than this

he’s like that in the comics

i like his design a lot actually, birds with snouts are fine if they’re stylized well, this one’s really cute and reminds me of a moomins or kazu kibuishi character.

So, I remember you having a lot of hype for Iconoclasts before it released, but I don't remember ever seeing you react to the final product! How did you wind up feeling about that game?

I actually did to a bit of theorising about the game’s backstory shortly after its release. (Warning: spoilers!) In terms of more general reactions, I thought it was very good; its major shortcomings are that many of ts mechanical concepts feel underutilised, the objectives of some puzzles are poorly telegraphed, and the script could have stood for another editing pass or three - all totally expected faults of an auteur-driven indie project by a solo developer with not enough outside feedback, really.

I am just curious, how is "Ratchel" pronounced? Is it just pronounced like Rachel? or does it rhyme with satchel?

It is, in fact, just pronounced like ‘Rachel’ (my sister suggested this name after Rachel from Friends), though occasionally i mispronounce it for affectionate nickname generation.

because I don’t see them as being “yanked” the same way you do? I don’t time travel so I’ll see those events at the exact point they’re supposed to happen. and they added SO much in the way of customization features, I’ll GLADLY trade Brewster for the ability to literally edit my island’s landscape

except there’s no reason to have to ‘trade’ these things in the first place, I don’t know why you are so adamant on defending nintendo, yes they can bring everything back and ADD more, that is the point of a sequel on a new more powerful console

also ‘well i dont change the time so it doesnt bother me’ isnt really an excuse to defend holding back that things that have always been there, if this was pure new content that they dont want people to spoil then i’d agree it

but c’mon...holding back what?bunny day? halloween? that has been the same it was in the gamecube game? wild world? city folk and new leaf? come on

your prior posts about this are making it out to be as though this game is fundamentally less than previous games, and as somebody who LOVES the new features I strongly disagree with that

me criticizing them taking out old features isn’t me saying the whole game is garbage, it still has huge improvements but that doesn’t mean you can’t point out the backwards things they do

I tend to compare things by how much they improved upon the prequels, for example, New Leaf for me was an improvement in nearly every way compared to City Folk, there isn’t a single thing I would turn back, it was a perfect sequel for me

but New Horizons isn’t an improvement in every single way to New Leaf, and even though it does improve tremendously upon customization it went backwards into a lot of things 

Just the mere fact only the first player gets to advance the game is a giant problem and the fact there’s essentially nothing to do while playing with other people online when new leaf had mini games and competitions kills a lot of the multiplayer fun

amazing to think making a post that literally boils down to “im glad this site banned kiddy p*rn” which is probably like the most mundane and socially acceptable thing to say and STILL get people pulling mental gymnastics about how this is a slippery slope to ThE PuRiTaN aPoCaLypSe 

but I guess for people who dedicate the entirety of their free time getting into internet slap fights it’s almost an instinct to see every post that slightly bothers them as an invitation to 1v1 a complete stranger
