they’ll probably ask what prompted the cut, and depending on how safe you feel/the vibes you’re getting from them, you can tell them what’s going on or you could obfuscate. your safety/comfort is what’s most important so if it doesn’t feel Right, you’re under no obligation to tell them right away, y'know? whatever happens, best of luck!!

ah yeah thanks, thats solid advice! my parents are generally, like, reasonably well-informed about this kinda stuff? like they know my roommate’s transfeminine and nonbinary and they’re cool with it (although they.... kinda have an ‘ahaha cool what a novelty!’ vibe about that, which is part of the reason why i’ve been cagey about coming out to them). so like, my concern with them isn’t like Physical Safety or anything, but I am worried about Being Taken Seriously about it and not having it get brushed off as a phase or whatever.... I think I’m gonna text my dad about it first because he tends to like, take me seriously as an Adult Who Can Make Decisions more than my mom does
