Hi y’all I just wanna drop in and remind you to think before you post, please
I’m seeing a lot of really young people (13, 14, 15) entering this fandom lately and I don’t think anyone has told you guys something you need to hear, and that is that some things should seriously just be kept strictly private or to fictional characters alone.
I’m seeing a lot of people post things (mostly about Harold Ramis but there’s plenty of people posting this stuff about Dan too) that I know you would not say to these people or their families’ faces. The internet is public and you NEED to remember that some ships are inappropriate (this in reference to some gross shit I’ve seen in terms of fan art about characters who are minors) and might make people uncomfortable.
I’ve been seeing this on tiktok, Instagram, and on tumblr alike. Don’t bring real people into ships, don’t be weird and bring their family into shit, you have seriously got to start being conscious of the fact that the things you’re putting out there are not private.
I’m also seeing a lot of fandom drama rise up around the things a lot of younger people have been doing in fandom spaces, and that’s not what this community was ever meant to be about or have an abundant amount of.
I don’t know if anyone else has seen this and become uncomfortable like I have, but I genuinely think that as someone who is a little older and understands the consequences that posting inappropriate things on the Internet can bring, it’s up to me to remind y’all to please watch yourselves and think of the actual people behind what you’re putting out there.
